The Pro Wrestling Thread - No Gimmick Needed

Eh this week's show was average or below average. The show started off with a Sting promo and although I'm glad he got to talk, he was kissing up to HHH. Did HHH wrote this promo? Not good. We had two Summerslam rematches and only one of them was good which was Kevin Owens defeating Cesaro. The Ziggler/Rusev match felt too slow for me. The backstage segments that followed just makes me laugh. Not surprised Charlotte won the Beat the Clock challenge. Also glad Sasha Banks didn't lose to Paige so that booking makes sense. Felt like the whole night had slower paced matches from Ryback/Big Show, Ambrose/Strowman and even the New Day/Dudley Boyz match. I still enjoy the New Day but this week they didn't do much. Main event segment, nothing memorable at all. We learned that Rollins is pulling double duty at the PPV against Cena and Sting.

Smackdown continues to be a chore for me to watch. The WWE Champion hardly shows up on there anymore. It seems like the writers are using Smackdown to further extend other storylines like the Reigns and Ambrose/Wyatt Family feud. There's hardly any Title matches, nothing exciting happens. Lame. At least the New Day continues to be a highlight to watch.

In other words, they're treating Smackdown like an extended version of Sunday Night Heat once again

Oh man, what can I say about this RAW. It was all over the place. Not much good stuff happened. The only good things I enjoyed were Sasha Banks getting the win over Paige, Ryback getting a win over Seth Rollins followed by that epic backstage segment with Rollins/New Day/Edge & Christian/Dudley Boyz. Also loved that the New Day got to main event in the 6-man tag match (although Kofi had to eat the pin). Other than that, we had a few obvious squash matches with Reigns/Ambrose winning their tag match and and Dudleyz Boyz winning theirs. I wonder if Randy Orton is going to be randomly added to the Wyatt Family feud. Oh yeah, not sure if that was a heel turn by Los Matadores after losing to the Dudleyz. By the way, I'm literally tired of Orton/Sheamus matches. Sick and tired of the Big Show as I don't care about his feud with the Miz. The Rusev/Ziggler feud has lost steam. Hopefully Lana's injury signals the end of it but I can't trust the creative team.

Edit: Not liking this WWE portrayal of Sting. I'm at lost for words as he was my favorite in WCW. This proves that your character is never safe when you join the WWE. Even an icon like Sting.

This week's RAW was ok, better than last week for sure. Things I enjoyed were the New Day's antics with them retaining their Tag Titles against PTP. Sasha Banks continues to win although I hate to see Paige losing all the time. The Miz TV segment was cool with Reigns having a nice promo. Still think they should've feud a long time ago. I still find Ryback to be awkward sometimes but his promo with Kevin Owens was decent. Cena pulled double duty defeating Sheamus clean and then helping Sting to make the main event into a tag team match. Got to make Sting look strong by having him do his finisher on Rollins. I hope this means Rollins is winning on Sunday. And glad he got minimal screen time this week.

Now onto to the things I didn't enjoy. This Ziggler/Rusev feud really needs to stop. Ziggler has come across looking like the heel while Rusev looks like the sympathetic babyface. The writing for this baffles me and I don't know where it's going. Finally, that Divas Title match. It was an okay match but the finish really ruined it. How come the Bellas never got in trouble for using their twin magic a long time ago? Why did it take this long for it to change the outcome of the match? No logic at all. But it looks like Charlotte will win on Sunday with the added stipulations Steph added to the match.
