Showa-era Gamera (Shout! Ent. Releases)

Here are some of the features, without much detail, from the Shout! Entertainment website.

Shout! Entertainment said:
2 BONUS - A Retrospective Look at the Gamera Franchise Gamera
3 BONUS - Audio Commentary Gamera
4 BONUS - Publicity Gallery

Sounds okay. Especially the first one.

Dude, there are still dozens of great toku/kaiju films still not released on DVD. Expecting blu-ray is a huge stretch. We're extremely lucky to even get this in it's original format, on DVD. Blu-ray is very far away for films like this. Maybe a decade away. :disappoin They're not the standard yet.

Dozens??? Think that's stretching it a bit. The majority of Toho kaiju films have an R1 release. Now Gamera is getting a sub job, Daimajin has been released. Doesn't leave many left. Now , I just hope they find a good enough print for Gamera 1980 , even how bad it is I still want that subbed hehe :buttrock:

All of the Gamera films are already released on Blu-Ray in Japan. From what I've been told, Shout! is working with the new HD transfers, so a Blu-Ray release will one day still be possible.

Of course they will. I just highly doubt it'll happen within the next 5 years. Not likely at all. Shout! Entertainment doesn't even deal with blu-ray films yet! You guys are jumpin the gun!

No, actually I wouldn't. But I will say this: of the 28 Godzilla films out there, there have been only 21 released uncut and subtitled. That's already 7 right there.

By the way, does anybody else realize that the original Godzilla has already been released on blu-ray?! :O_O: I never knew til now!
