Samurai Sentai Shinkenger - Talk Up!

If you get offended that intelligent women want to have and raise children, can I be offended that you refer to them as "things"?

And now I'm done. Seriously, I don't mind that you have an opinion, but could you please respect that the rest of us might have ones that are different than yours? That's all we're asking for, really.

No, you can't, because obviously you've been brainwashed by pigs:-)

It almost looks a troll, that keeps sayin things like housewives are stupid, I'm intelligent because I call babies things/I said so, just to piss off others that thinks different. It also seems the only thing she seems to have supportin her theory is something in the lines of "I dont wanna do it, so why other womans wan to do it?".

I've been over this in other posts. Cooking, cleaning and childcare are things even the dimmest idiot could do, and are a waste of any intelligence or talent a woman might have had.
-CUT-

You said you cannot cook, if i remember correctly. Something even an idiot could do, in your own words. Yet, you cannot do it.
And it's almost a shock to discover super sentai is, in reality, Toei's evil plan for male domination of all the little japanese female kids. Damn, those evil corporations, when they will stop?

If all women followed their "instincts" to be happy little housewives staying at home with kids, they would never develop as people. A human reduced to emotions and instinct is no better than an animal. That's why I was disappointed to see Genta's character reduced to someone blinded by emotion, rather than doing what he knew was the right thing. I'm not going to argue over the codes of samurai behaviour because I don't know enough about it.

I have never said I can't cook. I have said that I DON'T cook, but I can at least produce something that doesn't give everyone food poisoning.

Japan is an extremely misogynistic society. Mako is its idea of the perfect woman - a submissive little wannabe house-slave with a "hot" face and body. If only she were fifteen years old she'd be just right. I still think they will "reward" the character by pairing her off with Takeru, just to really hammer it in to the girls in the audience that they should want to be like Mako. Even if it doesn't become official, it's definitely been hinted at. There are several ships like this e.g. BoukenBlack and BoukenYellow never became a couple, nor did GekiBlue and GekiYellow but a lot of fans treat them as canon or semi-canon because of all the "subtext"

And as horrible as Mako is, I repeat: in just one episode the show managed to make Genta worse than her. Quite an achievement there.

I'm always suspicious of people who are desperately concerned with "wasting intelligence." To me it suggests someone who, on some level, realizes they've got precious little to work with.

The whole point of samurai was that they weren't rank-and-file foot soliders who killed indiscriminately. That job was for asshole peasants with spears. Samurai were valued as leaders and field commanders; most would've done the majority of their fighting as archers. In particular, samurai were expected to be highly intelligent.

A lord could reasonably expect that his samurai would be able to read, write, and appreciate aspects of fine culture like poetry and the tea ceremony. A lot of samurai-written poetry has passed down to modern day scholars.

So I really dig that Shinkenger includes scenes where all the rangers get together and do cultured things like practice calligraphy and read ancient texts that uneducated fighters, like Genta, simply cannot. That is a part of samurai ethos the show could've easily forgotten about, but it took the high road and didn't.

Showing Genta make a civilized appeal to an opponent is certainly samurai-like behavior. This is something samurai-- and other elite fighters-- have been able to do successfully throughout history. Wars historically tend not to end in the total annihilation of an enemy, but instead with strange new truces and alliances.

Care to back up your statement "women at home with kids do not develop as people" with something more then your own beliefs? Like a bunch of actual facts? Oh, and humans are emotion and instinct, in case you havent noticed it. They always have been, they'll always are. Nothing to be disappointed here, it's just the way human beings are.

I have never said I can't cook. I have said that I DON'T cook, but I can at least produce something that doesn't give everyone food poisoning.

Produce something that does not give food poisoning=not cookin. So, it's not "I don't cook", it's "I cannot cook, but I'm able to take something out of the freezer to eat". By the way, I would think that an idiot is capable of producin something that do not give food poisonin, but he's not able to actual cook. Of course, I'm not callin you idiot, I'm just sayin what I think.
Real cookin=very hard
Takin something out of the freezer=everyone can do it. Even you.

What fans thinks has nothing to do with what really happens in the show. Fans can tell whatever they want, Gekiblue and Gekiyellow are not a couple. Fanfictions are not exatly canon, neither semicanon. Those are just fanfictions. They really do not fit with the story, because they're not "original", and with this I mean "not something written by the original writer". So, whatever happens in one of these, will never be part of the real show.
You said you'll eat your hat if Takeru and Mako do not end as a couple, and to be so sure about this ship I would think you have something more solid than "fans says". But it seems you don't have it, since the only thing you keep sayin is "fans are shippin those two". Give some actual fact happened in the series that shows them being a future couple. At least five, not a random one thing happened once. If they really are going this route, I mean, 5 out of 43 eps it's not too much.

Its not about compassion or mercy, its about HONOR!

Something you obliviously don't understand.

Exactly. To hit a man that's wounded, that can't defend himself, it's cowardly.

To change the topic, I honestly would have rather had Akumaro sit in the shadows and had his plan marinate a bit longer, having him as the main baddie.

As savage and badass as Doukoku is, it felt more natural to have Akumaro take center stage and steal the show for the rest of the season. Doukoku really hasn't done much and his motivation just seems so weak compared to Akumaro, his strength and power aside.

I mean, all he really wants to do is flood the Sanzu so they can terrorize human kind as opposed to Akumaro's plan of being able to witness and bathe in the pure evil that is Hell. It might just be me, but Akumaro's goals seem much more specific as opposed to Doukoku and it felt more fitting...

And Akumaro's design was just outright amazing. That grin he always had on and the slits he had for eyes just gave me a creepy vibe all the time. His mannerisms and way of speaking were really Meemy-like as well, imho, which I find to be bloody brilliant. =3

I can agree with this somewhat.

Though I do hope Doukoku does come back soon. That fight was just too awesome to pass up.

I think they had Akumaro scheme about as long as they could. If anything, I really wish that he had appeared earlier in the series or been more active during the New Toy Episode run.

With Doukoku, I really wonder if there isn't some wrinkle to him that isn't fully explored yet. When he came back in the early 40's to repair Dayuu's shamisen was a really surprising. It makes me wonder if the writers might not have a few more surprising things for Doukoku to do before all's said and done.

When it comes to long term plans, Akumaro's a genius. To him, overflowing the Sanzu River is just pathetic and his idea of raising hell was more monsterous. It's too bad that Doukoku can't think very big.
