Samurai Sentai Shinkenger - Talk Up!

Yeah, that was pretty bullshit. If anyone paid any attention at all to anything Ryuunosuke did in any prior episode, they should've expected that. Ryuunosuke was the super-traditional guy, so of course the kagemusha thing is going to badly confuse his loyalties.

Yeah, I never understood why people were hating on hit for that. I look at the character, and that seems like something completely reasonable for him to struggle with. Might look stupid to the rest of us, but if he'd agreed at once it would have gone totally contrary to what the rest of the series showed his character to be.

As for having everyone find out about Takeru 10 episodes earlier... I would have been fine with that, as long as they didn't spend the entirety of those 10 episodes obsessing about it. However long it would take to come to grips with something like that in real life, you just can't stretch it out that far and have it still be interesting.

It depends on how you handle it. The "kagemusha" plot with Takeru is pretty much recycled from a similar plot Kobayashi wrote with Sailor Venus in the Sailor Moon tokusatsu.

In PGSM, the audience finds out Venus is the kagemusha in the early teens. From there the reveal is used not to to help viewers understand why Venus does things that might otherwise seem cruel or arbitrary. The other characters don't know until much later, which creates a lot of dramatic irony.

I wonder if Shinkenger might not have done better to let the audience very clearly know that Takeru is a kagemusha about ten episodes before the others found out. The other characters, I don't think, should've known any earlier than they did given what the show's ending was going to be.

^^I agree about the ten episode earlier thing.

I didn't know there was backlash against Ryuu for staying with Karou. :disappoin That really defined his character because he really got to do nothing does final episodes.

I didn't really like how they handled the Karou situation at all. She should've been part of that final battle too. She not only lost her father to Doukoku but probably lost most of the Shinken Reds before her father to Gedoushou but she gets to sit on the sidelines while everybody else saves the day. :shakefist

The girl was a powerhouse.:buttrock:

She was powerful, but she was also completely exhausted and drained from the sealing character. If the battle had dragged on longer, and her power was needed, she might've joined in. It looked as though both she and Takeru could posses the ShinkenRed powers.
