Samurai Sentai Shinkenger rumor/picture thread

You can only do so much with audience members determined to miss the point. :)

:rolleyes2: The "point" being?

Leaving aside my personal views about why Takeru is a godawful character, I think he could have been halfway decent if the show had made him into a "love to hate" type, but then for the target audience it's enough that he is the leader and has a big sword and fights the bad guys ...

There are a lot who are a bit close-minded (no offense) to the idea, though story-wise, it makes perfect sense for the events to happen.

No it doesn't. It's a tacked on move that just screams nonsense. There has been nothing that has led up to this at all. In fact, through out the series, he acted more like a lord and had to learn to be a kinder lord. Doesn't matter anyway. When shinkenger started in on those god awful mecha combinations, I stopped caring.

I believe Takeru was made into the character he was because he didn't want to be attached to his vassals early in the series, probably knowing that they are serving a decoy (made him a bit guilty) and probably factoring in the worst case scenario that could have happened to the previous Shinkengers during the time of Doukoku's partial sealing. Takeru had that "leader and has a big sword and fights the bad guys" because ironically, he actually showed how much integrity he had, being the reliable leader-type who is not afraid to get his hands dirty since of course he didn't fear for his life unlike if he was the real Lord and knew he shouldn't die because he has in his bloodline the only way to seal Doukoku. Look at it this way, he is a "Command-do" rather than a "Commander".

Yeah, its a tough crowd... Its like "The more you want it, the more you'll find a way, the more you don't want it, the more you'll make excuses".

Pretty much. Why, you will make excuses so hard, you will attach eye-rolling emoticons to them in the vain hope that it will conceal the painful stench of sour grapes in everything you say and do.

Anyway, I dunno, I sympathize with someone who's sat through 42 episodes, didn't see anything like this coming, and can only feel betrayed by Shinkenger over this twist. That's not how I feel, but I can see where someone like that is coming from.

The show wants you to like the individual Shinkengers. You sit through this **** because you like the characters (if you didn't you'd have better things to do). So you get attached to Takeru, you sympathize with his struggles, maybe you really get into the idea of a Red who is like a modern feudal lord.

Then you get to the end of the show, and... oh, by the way, he's a liar! Here's the real Shinken Red, someone you've never seen before even though we're six episodes from the end!

Whether the replacement was male or female, some people just aren't going to be cool with that. Especially if you're a viewer who outright enjoys Super Sentai's formulaic and predictable aspects.

okay at this point takeru better be in the last episode as red putting them hand on Doukoku, i kinda of anticipated that genta would leave or be discharged by lady because she looks like a mean trick and finally im just plain ready for goseiger beacuse this is ridiculas

Reminds me of the difference between people who would rather appear in Jeopardy or people who would rather appear in the Jerry Springer Show. It sometimes helps to have an open-mind, outside-of-the-box thinking, and expecting the unexpected, not be fixed with the usual things that does not require much mental and emotional exercise, which is the baseline for fundamentalists.

I think people would be more willing to accept this if they just realize that Shinkenger has been a modern day chanbara series, where fake identities are not uncommon. And as has been said before there seems to be Seven Samurai parallel going and it just so happens the guy with the biggest sword is the fake.

Hey, I'm by no means a fan of Shinkenger, but I think the whole kagemusha thing is a cool idea. The problem is that Shinkenger has nerve trying to actually do something interesting or have something resembling an actual story after pissing around, doing jack-all for a majority of the series.
