[GAME] Pacific Rim: Angel Brigade

"Ah heh...look, no need to be shy about that...I know that this...stands out a lot..." Perla responded. After Marshall Stern told them to do whatever, she was soon out of the Jaeger with Marcus and, a sly smile on her face, she asked her partner on what to do next. "So then, we need to know each other a lot, huh? So...maybe we could go grab something to eat? Maybe grab something the other would eat normally?"

"Grabbing some grub tends to be a pretty good idea." he said, followed by a reaffirming stomach growl that could be compared to the growl of an angry bear. I hear the mess hall her might have something that's edible, for the most part I stick to stuff that has the word "instant" in the title or just quick fast food. So I'll let you take the lead on that one." he said before the conn pod was removed from the Jaeger and they were able to exit. Still in his drivesuit, holding his helmet in his right arm. It was a good feeling to be in one, made him want to stay in his for a good long while and walk around in it.

Just as Eddie Hood had begun steering his partner in the general direction of the room where their armour could be removed properly, he reacted to the shivering echo of footfalls on the metal walkway behind them. He looked back over his shoulder, and spotted Marcus and Perla coming towards them. The hand clapped upon Rachael’s shoulder slid a little way down her arm, then fell to its owner’s side as he turned all the way around and gave the approaching Rangers a mock salute.

“Trent, and Durante,†he called, wiggling his eyebrows as he mentioned the latter, “it’s wonderful to see you two came out of there as well. I was starting to worry some of the horror stories I’ve heard were real. You know, nosebleeds, nightmares, exploding heads.†He put a hand up by the side of his head and puffed his cheeks out, cartoonishly emulating an explosion. “Could happen at any time. Well done, you.†He gave Marcus a firm punch on his still-armoured shoulder.

Riona sees Amber's distress and reaches out for the other girl's hand with her usual grin.

"Hey, trust me. I wont be too bad to hang out with. We can teach each other a lot."

Feeling Riona's hand hold hers, Amber couldn't help but smile amidst the tears, prompting her to hold Riona's hand as well. "Now that we've done the drift, you can see that the Kaiju have taken away what was dear to me. I am actually rather envious of your ability to smile despite that. It seems that you and I share the same loss," she told Riona, wiping away her own tears with the other hand. Deciding to head for the area where their armor could be removed, Amber encountered the other four pilots -- Eddie, Rachel, Perla, and Marcus. Not wanting the other four to see her sorrow, she continued to wipe her tears with her arm just as she approached the other four, and looked at them with a rather stoic expression, giving them a friendly wave.

Well done, you.†He gave Marcus a firm punch on his still-armoured shoulder.

"Looks like you came out of it with your head intact too." Marcus said, rolling with it. He couldn't help but wonder if the "well done" was for managing to drift or because he was lucky enough to get a partner that was really easy on the eyes. He looked over and saw Riona and Amber emerge soon after and gave a polite wave back to them before facing Eddie again. "So how's the vintage model? I hear the Conn pod is way different"

Riona had a huge grin on her face and if she had a tail no doubt it would be waging fast.

"I'm glad we all got through.... so maybe since we all have to get to know each other... we could see if there's an arcade of something to do for entertainment?" the smallest pilot winked at Amber "Bet you and I could give each other a challenge"

Rachael turned at the sudden shift in Eddie. She'd heard the footsteps as well, but was more accustomed to ignoring them. Seeing as it was Marcus and Perla, Rachael attempted to be polite and smiled slightly.

At Eddies comical description of what didn't happen, Rachael began to silently laugh. Giving the young man a forceful nudge, Rachael gave him a "that could have happened to you" glance.

Eddie acknowledged Rachael’s nudge with a wry smile, and then returned to answer Marcus’ question. “Trent, my colonial compadre,†he said, “what can I say? She’s aged like fine wine. You’re right, though, the pod is different. Mark 1s don’t have the available shoulder-space like the later generations. They need it to house their power plants.†He held two erect fingers in front of Rachael, circling them and looking very much as if he were about to poke her right in the middle of her chest, then he promptly shifted his hand and demonstrated on himself instead. “So the Conn-Pod goes here. Shows she has Rangers who follow their hearts. Use your head too much, and you overthink. Best to just get in there and do it, yâ™know.â€

Arthur ran through the massive amount of information from the Drift test as fast as his eyes would move in order to catch up. "After some initial issues, all three teams managed a successful Neural Handshake." The redhead knew that this was something Marshall Stern would have seen first-hand while the test was taking place, but LOCCENT protocol required him to officially stated, just like it was his job to announce when a Jagger and its team were destroyed by a Kaiju. "Despite some emotional disturbance and aftereffects, all six pilots are deemed fit and battle-ready." Arthur stated, somehow proud that he had manage to prevent his jealousy to seep through his voice.

Turning his head around, the young man looked at his commanding officer. Arthur waited for a couple of seconds until he received a silent, and barely visible nod from Stern before turning back to his screen. Pulling up the three Jagger's deployment screens, the redhead changed their status to green. This way, if a Kaiju attack, the Los Angels's Shatterdome would at least have something to throw at it.

Having her helmet off now too, Perla chimed in on what she hoped was in the mess hall. "I just wonder if they have anything Mexican...hell, I'll even take the faux Mexican stuff you gringos eat, ha ha...just messing, don't worry..." She said teasingly. After Eddie came by, she could tell that he found himself to be sort of a talker and just let him do his thing, not chiming in just yet. She did see that serious Amber girl waving at her and Perla wasn't shy in returning it with a wave of her own.

"So, you guys did good from the looks of things too..." She said to the stoic young woman, since Eddie and Marcus seemed to be talking a bit now. Besides, it looked like none of the others were talking to Amber and Riona at the moment. As for Riona's suggestion on the arcade, Perla addressed that next. "Heh, sure, I'd be up for that, but let me at least get some grub first, ya know?"

When the drift tests were all said and done with the data collected Marshall Stern breathed a sigh of relief. Perhaps these oddballs could work together after all though he had to wonder how well they would perform in a real combat situation. He would continue to observe for now, glad that most seemed fairly receptive toward his little experiment in making them sync better. For now though it looked good as the pilots were meshing pretty well.

Over the next week the pilots would stick together a instructed, with the hopes that it would boost their compatibility. it was also announced that another would be joining their ranks within the coming few weeks, potentially as a backup pilot.

During that time Marcus gradually opened himself up more, but still had trouble allowing everything to flow freely, as they found out in subsequent drift tests. While he was more than willing to take turns picking meals, and showing her that his quarters were filled with rock and metal band posters, he would keep other things hidden like his wild air guitar sessions and his dvd collection of Hurricane Demon Nyrazor a secret. It was like he had a public persona and a private persona, and only the public persona was seen in the drift. It was a connection but how strong it of a connection it was had yet to be really seen.

Marcus was sleeping peacefully, in a few hours his morning alarm would go off and he would meet up with Perla again and the whole routine would start over. If he remembered right it was Perla's turn to pick breakfast, though he had an idea of what she was gonna pick anyway. Suddenly it happened. a loud alarm sounded throughout the base, causing Marcus to be startled awake and fall out of bed. That was no ordinary alarm, it was one he had been trained to recognize, one they were all trained to recognize. It meant one thing and one thing only: Kaiju. Not even bothering to change into a uniform, knowing he would be in a drivesuit soon anyway, he dashed out of his room. From the sheer urgency he saw in the Shatterdome's staff he could tell this was no drill, this was the real thing alright.
