((Note this is an AU not connected to the movie in any way))

August 10th 2013, what was believed to be a 7.1 earthquake occurred off the coast of San Fransisco, not long after it was discovered that it was something far worse as an enormous beast rose from the ocean, the perceived earthquake being little more than it's oncoming footsteps. This was the first Kaiju to pass through an underwater gateway that would be come to be known as the breach. It left a path of destruction in it's wake as it smashed through San Francisco, Sacramento, and finally Oakland where it was brought down by three nuclear missiles after a five day rampage. Even in it's death it continued to be a danger, with it's toxic blood the land where it had died had become uninhabitable, and those directly exposed to the blood, nicknamed Kaiju Blue, and most who had direct contact with it were highly likely to die. This incident became known as K-DAY. For a while things were quiet, until another Kaiju emerged, attacking Cabo, and months after that Manila was attacked. There was no denying the truth, the Kaiju were going to keep coming, and anything short of nuclear missiles had proven to be useless against them, if we were going to have any hope of survival we needed to make a new way to drive back these monsters.

Enter the Jaegers, massive humanoid mecha created for the purpose of fighting on even terms with the Kaiju, controlled via a mix of motion and mental controls. In the early stages there were some speedbumps, namely the fact that the neural load was far too much for a single person to handle, making the Jaegers appear unsafe and unfeasible as a defense measure however with so much funding sunk into the project, and no alternatives in sight the creators were determined to make it work. It was soon discovered that by splitting the load between two pilots the Jaeger could be used safely, this was achieved through the Drift, a process in which the minds of the two minds become linked together sharing thoughts, memories and emotions, allowing the two to act in sync for the sake of controlling the Jaeger, effectively serving as a left and right hemisphere. The more compatible the pilots, the smoother the Drift, and the smoother the Drift, the more effective the Jaeger is in combat. Pilots often form strong bonds and have a keen understanding of one another after having worked together for a while, and can communicate wordlessly while in the Drift. The only known side effect of the process is known as Ghost Drifting, where the connection remains slightly active even when disconnected from the Hardware.

With the Jaeger Program a viable and successful option the Pan Pacific Defense Corps was formed around it, and the fight against the Kaiju suddenly became a lot less hopeless. Being produced in numbers as large as possible the Jaegers were stationed at bases known as Shatterdomes, facilities built for the construction, repair and maintenance of Jaegers as well as being the homes of pilots, known as Rangers, the many maintenance crews, other non combat personnel and of course the Marhsall in command of the facility. The Rangers themselves are often seen as larger than life heroes to others, being treated almost like rock stars when they leave the Shatterdome.

Our story brings us to a newly completed Shatterdome in Los Angeles, placed their to cover a gap that the Panama City and Anchorage Shatterdomes could barely manage to hold. To speed up the process and make it fully operational three Jaegers are being flown to it, the American made Howler Magnum, the Japanese Ronin Hazard, and from the Philippines the old but tough Iron Hound. To pilot them, several Rangers fresh from the Jaeger academy have been brought in. Nicknamed the Guardian Angel Brigade they will be the latest to join in the fight against the Kaiju for the sake of humanity.

The Guardian Angel Brigade: The nickname of the Rangers and other personnel of the Los Angeles Shatterdome, playing of the name of the city meaning "City of Angels". Made up by Marshall Aaron Stern it is a name that the personnel have embraced, later the Marshall's daughter designed a logo for them which is worn as a patch on the uniforms of most in the base, a logo featuring an muscular cupid like figure that traded in it's bow for a machine gun and a battle axe.

The Jaegers of the LA Shatterdome:
c8d0e0f5-e38c-4862-9002-fdbf3d429139_zps296b8de4.jpg
Generation: Mark 4
Built in America, the Howler Magnum is a quick unit with a fighting style similar to that of a dirty boxer of brutal brawler built around quick strikes with it's hand based weaponry. While labeled a Mark 4 its a bit of a mishmash of Mark 3 features with some more recently developed tech.
Weapons:
4.211 "Brass Knuckles": A temperature-resistant brass-steel compound cast around the joints of each finger extension, adding greatly to the impact potential of each punch

Twin Tetractable Assault Mount 3.25 "Sting-Blades": Wrist mounted blades laced with carbon nanotubes that channel thermal energy at temperatures over three hundred degrees Fahrenheit, wounding and cauterizing Kaiju in close combat.

Generation: Mark 3
A sturdy, well balanced Jaeger the Ronin Hazard is a jack of all trades of sorts, able to fight at multiple ranges, move pretty well and withstand a beating boasting an impressive combat record before being shipped off to the LA Shatterdome.
Weapons:
I-19 Plasmacaster, a particle dispersal cannon that fires plasma via a charged carrier rail, which wound and cauterize Kaiju anatomy, preventing the spread of Kaiju Blue.
Elbow Thrusters: Jets mounted within the elbows of the Jaeger which allow it to increase the effectiveness of it's punching attacks.

Generation: Mark 1
By far the oldest Jaeger in the trio, but it's age doesnt indicate ineffectiveness. Like a hardened ol soldier the Iron Hound has seen alot of action and has always lived to tell the tale. The slowest of the trio, it is also the most heavily armored with fists backed by the force of giant freight trains. It has also been broguth up to modern specs in some ways, such as the shielding of it's nuclear reactor, meaning the pilots need not fear radiation poisoning. Due to it' lack of escape pods it i often regarded as the most hardcore jaeger.
Weapons:
Z14 Tesla Fists: Fists powered by Tesla cells, allowing for a formation of simultaneous electric arc impulse, with force up to 415kv into a Kaiju, usually to the effect of smashing both fists to induce maximum current at the sides of a Kaiju's head, usually stunning or incapacitating most targets.
Springloaded Arms: As the Jaeger focuses on punching attacks, the arms are springloaded to increased effectiveness and speed.

Drivesuits:
A type of body armor used to interface with the Jaeger and protect the body of the Ranger from injury sustained while battling a Kaiju. Rangers are taken to the Drivesuit Room to be outfitted into his or her Drivesuit by a technician. Sometimes personalized by the wearers. The pilots of Iron Hound make use of an older style drive suit. (Modern and older style drivesuits pictured above)

The LA Shatterdome "Angel's Haven":
The main base of operations for the Guardian Angel Brigade it has all the standard shatterdome features:

The K-Science Lab: The biochemical research laboratory where Kaiju anatomy is studied and harvested.

Drivesuit Room: The Drivesuit room serves as the final preparation for Jaeger pilots. Rangers are taken to be outfitted in their Drivesuits by a team of Drivesuit technicians. In accordance to the time constraints provided by the initial breach of the Kaiju, the technicians have less than seven minutes to outfit the pilots in their armor and get them aboard the Conn-Pod to initiate both the Drift and the launch of the Jaeger.

LOCCENT Mission Control: The communication center in the Shatterdome. LOCCENT is responsible for the deployment of the Jaegers. Technicians and high ranking personnel oversee the progress of fights and the pilots whenever Jaegers are sent out to attack Kaiju emerging from the Breach. Shatterdome technicians also play a part in initiating the final procedure of the Drift, the Neural Handshake.

Kwoon combat Room: A combat practice room for Rangers to hone their skills in in order to fight better in a Jaeger. The physiological aspects of battle are emphasized heavily during their training. The goal within the Combat Room is to forge an ideal partnership between the Rangers instead of a superior being in order for both to successfully pilot a Jaeger.

My Bio:

Name: Marcus Trent

Age: 25

Country of Origin: USA

Appearance:
srtog-kyosuke-nanbu.jpg

Bio: Marcus was just a kid when the first Kaiju crawled it's way out of the breach, instilling a whole new kind of fear in people all over the world, himself included. It was tough being a small spec in a crowd, even tougher when a giant beast arises to make sure everything in sight feels small, weak, and insignificant. He saw those around him grow more and more pessimistic as the second Kaiju appeared, letting the world known with it's rampage that they were just going to keep on coming. And finally he saw hope when the first Jaeger successfully defeated a Kaiju, that hope becoming inspiration, which soon became determination. Lake many other young teenaged boys he was a big fan of the Jaegers, and had aimed to someday pilot one, it was the one thing that kept him going for a long time, and when he was finally the right age he was more than ready to volunteer to join the Jaeger Academy, and that's where things got difficult. In the beginning his scores in practically everything were far below average, and it looked like he wouldn't even come close to making the cut to become a pilot, something that the less friendly cadets were more than happy to make fun of. His determination began to burn even hotter than before, he would make the cut, he would become a pilot, and he would be better than the rest of them, he was determined to show them how wrong they were about him and then gloat when it was all done. He wasn't going to be afraid in the face of Kaiju, and he sure as hell wasnt going to get disheartened by the jackasses around him. He became increasingly stoic, tuning out all the others around him as he focused on training, pushing his limits little by little each and every day. His work was paying off his scores steadily rising as he maintained a single minded focus on his goal. Soon the rest of the cadets became little more than meaningless background noise to him, recreational and activities, became distractions from his goal. From his perspective the rest of them had been completely shut out in end. He had developed a will of steel, and determination that even the most relentless trainers could no longer break though. He was the opposite of what he was when he went in going from the bottom of the cadet rankings straight to the top, where there was once a simple fanboy chasing a dream, there was now a hardened fighter ready to take on whatever was thrown at him.

It was no wonder that he was well on his way to piloting, and would have likely been in a Jaeger wasn't for one major hitch which became apparent during the more advanced training sessions when he moved on to Drift training. While performing Drive Sync testing with experienced instructors the drift felt noticeably one sided. He could easily get into the head of another, but those who drifted with him couldn't get into his head. He had become so good at blocking out the taunts an teases of the others that he more or less instinctively blocked out drift partners, something reflected by his new found difficulty actually opening up to anyone during conversations. During drifts instructors would comment that the drift felt half deaf in a way, with the right hand knowing what the left hand was doing, but the left hand having no clue about the right hand. In simulated combat it was shown he could still fight despite this drawback, but it was often clumsy, and awkward, with him essentially seizing control , using his partner as little more than something to hold half of the neural load and doing most of the controlling, rather than working together to achieve maximum effectiveness. Not only was this less efficient against the kaiju, but it was dangerous for him as well due to his taking more and more of the neural load, potentially causing physical and mental damage in a real jaeger. His biggest strength had become the main thing keeping him from being an active duty ranger. Still having some so far the PPDC chose not totally rule out any possibility of piloting, instead opting to put him on standby until a viable copilot could be located.

It was far from the outcome he had hoped for, having gone through all of that work only to more or less be back at square one, needless to say he was less than thrilled by the whole thing. The subject became something he just didnt like talking about all that much either. Less than a month later he was contacted, told he was being put on duty as an active Ranger at the recently finished LA Shatterdome. At first he thought it was a joke, but they made sure he figured out they were serious. While a bit apprehensive about who will pilot a Jaeger with, he looks forward to finally meeting that goal, and kicking some Kaiju ass.

When not in the Conn-Pod and off on his own he can often be found humming classic rock tunes to himself, and when alone in his quarters he tends to let loose and air guitar wildly while listening to those same songs.

Name: Amber Raines

Age: 22

Country of Origin: United States

Appearance:
2w3xpis.jpg

Bio: In very much the same way as Marcus Trent, Amber was just a little girl when she first saw a Kaiju appear before her very eyes, its footsteps the cause of a 7.1 Earthquake that shattered what would've been a fairly normal life for her. As the Kaiju rampaged throughout the city, Amber could only watch as the Kaiju claimed her parents as victims. This caused anger and resentment toward the Kaiju to build up within the heart of the lovely and innocent-looking young girl, who could only watch helplessly as the Kaiju continued to rampage until the force of three nukes finally put it down. However, the knowledge of the Kaiju being taken down didn't comfort the girl any; Amber decided that she wanted to exact a measure of revenge against the Kaiju for claiming the lives of her parents, thus allowing her to make the "easy" decision of joining the Jaeger academy. At the academy, she encountered many others that have also decided to be cadets, ranging from the shy and seemingly weak, to those that are arrogant and loud-mouthed. Though she had heads turn her way at the start, as she was incredibly pretty to begin with, Amber grew up from a pretty little girl, to a young woman with bewitching beauty, which other aspiring Pilots of both genders couldn't help but notice. Besides her beauty, however, her scores in training, which reflect her skill and aptitude, have impressed many others as well. Despite all that, however, Amber primarily kept to herself, her mind focused on her ultimate goal of vengeance. With her skill and determination, it would almost seem that Amber would be a lock for the position of Pilot.

That is, one thing would stand between her and the position: The Drift. In order for the pilots to control the Jaeger safely and effectively, a tandem would have to perform a Drift, in which two pilots must unite their minds fully in order to bear the neural load placed upon them by the Jaeger. Like Marcus, Amber had the tendency to take control instead of sharing the load with her partner, primarily because of her single-minded determination to get revenge against the Kaiju. On top of that, her expression would change from indifference to rage whenever she and a partner would try to control a Jaeger, causing her partners to worry. When confronted, however, she would shrug off the other pilot's concern, sometimes wordlessly, sometimes with a statement of "eh, it's nothing." All in all, her demeanor and desire for revenge has prevented her from performing a drift successfully, and putting her in limbo of sorts.

Despite the setbacks, Amber continued to work hard, never losing sight of her goal. She decided to herself that no matter what role was assigned to her, she would perform her best for as long as it allows her to get revenge against all Kaiju.

Name: Edward “Eddie†John Hood

Age: 24

Origin: Great Britain

Appearance: Eddie Hood is a tall, Caucasian youth with sharp cheekbones and lips that always seem upturned at the corners. He has light grey eyes under dark brows, and shoulder-length blonde hair that is always extremely unkempt. When not donning his Drivesuit or regulation attire, he prefers dress shirts, the sleeves of which he rolls up past his elbows, fingerless dark red gloves, black trousers fastened by red braces, and black shoes with pointed toes. He always has a length of cloth wrapped tight around his right bicep, and when going out will don a black waistcoat with gold buttons, a tie, and a white jacket with a pointy collar. If he carries a firearm, it is always in a chest holster hidden by his clothes, rather than on his hip. The epitaph, “WHO DARES WINS,†has been painted across his Drivesuit’s pectoral plating.

Bio: Eddie’s father, Patrick Hood, was a captain in Britain’s elite S.A.S. squadron. His mother, Doctor Diana Hood, was a scientist and a friend of Jasper Schoenfeld. After Schoenfeld’s pitch received unanimous approval from the scientific community during the anti-Kaiju conference held in Seoul in 2014, Diana was recruited to help oversee Jaeger design development and Patrick was called up to train the first generation of Rangers, to ensure they possessed the level of physical fitness and self-control required to pilot the mighty machines. Following the disaster involving Brawler Yukon which led to the death of its pilot Adam Casey in 2015, Patrick began to have doubts regarding the viability of the project. Diana did not take this well. Patrick was brought back onboard, albeit reluctantly, after the accidental discovery of ideal Drift conditions by Sergio D’onofrio, the Brawler’s second pilot, and Doctor Caitlin Lightcap. He was exposed to the Pons system himself, and although he never entered a Conn-Pod or engaged a Kaiju, he developed a new understanding of what was needed to successfully pilot the titanic battle-machines. He, along with a few other members of the project’s hierarchy, tore up the old regime and implemented a new one that emphasised balance and compatibility, and this became a vital cornerstone of the Jaeger Academy once it was properly established.

Patrick continued to teach potential new pilots, while Diana retired from the project so she could raise their son, Edward. Eddie did not grow up with his father’s taciturn professionalism or his mother’s intellectual curiosity. He was, put simply, a born thrill-seeker with dreams of adventure and intrigue, and very little sense of self-preservation. He was a witness to the devastation wrought by the Jaegers, but where others saw pain and anguish as their world came crashing down around their ears, all Eddie saw was a new challenge to overcome, a new chance to make history and have a damned good time doing it. Some of his teachers at school, and the parents of childhood friends, were concerned that these were signs of a lack of empathy, and worried he might be on the road to becoming a sociopath. His mother defended him by pointing out that Eddie never hurt anybody without good intent – he could truthfully state that he had never once started a fight, after all, and people liked him in spite of his eccentricities – but she did harbour thoughts that his exuberance needed a proper outlet, or he would self-destruct. It was here that the two parts of Diana’s life began to intersect. Patrick was proud to have Eddie join the Jaeger Academy the moment he was old enough, but insisted that he be given no special treatment or be treated any differently (it was briefly considered that he should join under a pseudonym so nobody would make the connection between them, but this was vetoed by Diana on the grounds that the move was too extreme). The war with the Kaiju was a deathly serious business, and if his son wanted to be a part of it, he would need to work just as hard as the rest of the recruits. Eddie signed up without hesitation, and Diana, to the surprise and pleasure of her colleagues, returned to her former department.

While field-testing the next generation of Jaeger at sea in a friendly war-game against a rival Shatterdome, an unexpected Kaiju attack saw many fatalities and scores of casualties. Since the Jaeger had been fitted for non-lethal weaponry, the two machines could only hold the attacker off until reinforcements arrived. Diana’s body was never found in the aftermath, but she was declared to have drowned whilst helping one of the crews, whose ship had been destroyed in the attack, to safety. Since that day, Eddie has worn a piece of his mother’s favourite silk scarf around his right bicep in honour of her bravery. This tragic event finally brought out a darker, more serious aspect of his personality. Eddie learned of real anger. He had developed a single-minded and wrathful alter ego, and even his closest friends at the Academy learned to tread lightly so as not to rouse the beast within, yet most of the time he continued to be the sharp, over-excitable, blasé individual he always was.

Like many new recruits, regardless of his other skills, Eddie faced difficulties performing in the Drift. He was not closed off, or unsociable, but he tried to move ahead too quickly for his partners to keep up. He was impatient and greatly disliked waiting for the effect of the Neural Handshake to fully take hold, resulting in plenty of headaches and even recurring nightmares for those parties involved. He was forced to reign himself in, but with practise, he managed to straighten out his errant behaviour at least long enough to forge a connection with his co-pilot. It’s generally believed he only applied himself to this because confirmed success was the only way he would ever be allowed near a Jaeger unit. He understood the need for teamwork inside the Conn-Pod, and acted accordingly, but his instructors made a note that he was far too eager to rush headlong into the fray without considering the consequences to his own welfare. His willingness to sacrifice his own life just to make sure his enemies weren’t going to get back up was outlined clearly in the part of his dossier meant for Marshall Stern’s eyes only.

Eddie Hood presents a light-hearted and easy-going sort outside the Conn-Pod, and an eager and confident warrior in the field, always prepared to take risks. He loves the celebrity lifestyle that all of the Rangers enjoy, going to movie premieres, appearing on television, drinking in the best bars, and engaging in pleasurable company whenever he can. He is an incorrigible flirt, and seems to have taken a personal vow to get into some manner of encounter with every attractive young woman on-base at least once, seemingly regardless of what anybody else thinks. In his personal time, when not chasing skirt or playing jokes on his fellow pilots, he likes to collect antique guns, which he cleans while watching stylish spy thrillers on television (although he has admitted to disliking the James Bond series). He is currently working on a novel about a handsome and swinging young Ranger named Captain William Kuiper.

Miscellaneous Notes:
• Eddie’s parents – Patrick and Diana – are named for Patrick Macnee and Diana Rigg, who played John Steed and Emma Peel in the popular ‘60s spy sries, “The Avengers.†Steed is also the source of Eddie’s middle name, John.

Eddie likes to think of himself as a bit of a superstar secret agent-type, so this could easily apply to him:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v6pBscvuZI"]“Secret Agent Man†by Bruce Willis[/ame]
(cover of the song originally
performed by Johnny Rivers, 1966)

Any more I come up with that are appropriate to him, I will add here.

NPC Bio:

Name: Aaron Stern

Age: 48

Country of Origin: Australia

Appearance:
ingram_zps90a91965.png

Role: Shatterdome Marshall

Bio: In the past Aaron Stern was a Jaeger pilot with an impressive combat record, piloting the Mark 1 model Coyote Punk alongside his sister Millia Stern, with a a fairly impressive for the time kaiju kill count he ended up becoming of of the first "rock star" rangers who ended up enjoying the fame quite a bit, making lots of public appearances, guest spots on late night tv shows. Ironically this was the beginning of what would later cause his retirement from the Jaeger piloting as he had met his future wife backstage during one of those late night tv appearances. In time age, combined with family responsibility proved to be a good reason to retire from piloting. But with experience like his he couldn't quite stay away either, plus he missed it a little, and thus ended up taking on the role of a Marshall, as well as becoming a part time instructor at the Academy. His own personal experience fighting Kaiju is a valuable asset and comes in handy when commanding the pilots that work under him.

He is well liked by the staff of the LA Shatterdome, known for a his sense of humor being helpful during the tough times and his willingness to get his hands dirty and help out with the other tasks around the Shatterdome doesnt hurt morale either. The other thing he is known for is the fact that he is very overprotective of his daughter, who by now has grown into a lovely young woman, and is more than willing put his still sharp fighting skills to use on those that look at her a little too long.

Name: Riona Sullivan

Age: 21

Country of Origin: USA

Appearance:
Riona is small, barely 5ft tall with long dark brown hair and greenish grey eyes.

She usually wears black jeans, cowboy boots, black lace tanktops and oversized colorful sweaters.

ou6rug.jpg

Bio: Riona was born the youngest of five in a suburb just outside New York City. The family emigrated after her father inherited an old homestead closer to Sacramento, California. Riona has always insisted that it was an ideal place for a large-sized family, although her memories are at best faint, due to her age at the time she lived there. This pastoral environment also happened to be one of those areas that were totally annihilated in the wake of K-Day, placing the Sullivan family squarely at the forefront of the onset of the ongoing Kaiju War.
Riona's earliest memory is her mother singing a lullaby to her, then being interrupted by a telephone call, informing her she was required at the hospital where she worked as a nurse. Her older sister, Pica, took the wailing toddler outside to the bench-swing in the garden, but not long after, the Kaiju known as, "Trespasser," flattened the farm underfoot. Hidden by the canopy of the nearby woods, the two sisters miraculously survived. Both their parents, and their three siblings, were lost in the ensuing chaos.

Now with a child to look after, Pica went from job to job, never giving up hope that somewhere, somehow, their parents were still alive, but no sign of them ever came to light. Eventually, they found sanctuary at the Anchorage Shatterdome (colloquially, "the Icebox"), where Pica, like her mother before her, became a nurse. The only difference was that instead of civilians, the elder Sullivan worked to preserve the lives of mankind's heroes, the Rangers.

Riona was a happy and energetic child, and these qualities, as well as her small stature, earned her the nickname, "Corgi." She exhibited impressive speed and strength for her age and build, along with a strong-willed protective streak, earned her a place at the Jaeger Academy, where more than one presumptuous classmate learned not to take advantage of her size or gender. A corgi is a dog, after all, and dogs bite.

In the field, Riona is a firecracker. She burns brightly, but requires guidance in order for that fire to channelled effectively. The problem is that Riona often mistranslates focus as holding back, which can be just as bad as going out of control. This is most evident in the Drift, and her partner may very well be required to communicate with her in order to prevent her from giving too much or too little.
