NBA 2010/11 Season Discussion

BREAKING NEWS: Melo To Accept Trade To Nets in a 4 team trade.

According to the New York Daily News, a "reliable source" reports that Carmelo Anthony has approved a trade to the Nets.

Presumably this means that Anthony would agree to a long-term contract extension upon a trade to New Jersey.

A trade could be agreed upon as early as Saturday.

Devin Harris would go to Charlotte and Boris Diaw to Utah in the proposed trade, which is not yet final.

One source close to the talks said that all the teams are "seriously engaged" after extensive discussions Thursday.

The deal would be contingent on Anthony agreeing to sign a long-term contract extension with the Nets, who are set to move to Brooklyn after playing the next two seasons in Newark.

One source told ESPN that Anthony's willingness to sign with the Nets is a potential obstacle to completion of the trade.

The Jazz are getting raped in the trade.

So Carmelo is essentially agreeing to go to the Nets with Brook Lopez as his only sidekick? (Note: Devin Harris is part of the trade, his ass is gone too as well as the rookie stud Derrick Favors)

Is Melo on crack? Why is he agreeing to sign an extension to a team that has basically depleted its talent level just to acquire him?

It'd make for sense for his ass to go the Knicks or possibly the Bulls since at least he'll have a legit All-Star caliber sidekick (Knicks with Amare, Bulls with Derrick Rose). Brook Lopez is a 7 foot overrated piece of crack that only led the New Jersey Nets to 12 fucking wins.

But that is the whole deal unless they add or take away a few things.

The Jazz are trading AK47 to Denver and they get back Boris Diaw...who isn't even an effective SF. They could atleast get back Aaron Afflalo.

He's not on crack. He just really doesn't have a choice. The Nuggets are trading him and if he doesn't accept he could end up anywhere from LA Clippers to Rockets or even Timberwolves.

He's just settling.

Lopez is a good player but he's just a solid center like Nene. Melo will either accept and not sign an extension or be forced into committing to it first.

either way, the Nets will have Farmar, T-Will, Melo, Murphy and Lopez....

I guess I can't really blame him for that then.........it's obvious that even if the Knicks acquire all the first round draft picks in the world that Denver WILL NOT TRADE HIM TO NEW YORK. I think it's that prolong fact that the Nuggets have blacklisted the New York Knicks in all Carmelo Trade Talk.

It's absolute bullshit at what Denver management is trying to **** everyone over in this scenario

Carmelo wants to play in Brooklyn, and Derrick Favors is looking very promising, not to forget Brook Lopez. It's obvious the Nets won't be better than the Lakers or Orlando, but they could be one of those team that people don't expect to do much and surprise in the playoffs (with Melo of course)

Carmelo wants to play in the New York AREA period.........it doesn't matter if he was in Jersey, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, Rhode Island, or motherfucking ass Connecticut.

His top target was the Knicks, but since Denver management was being fucking assholes about sending him to the Knicks........he had to settle for 2 years in Newark and one year in Brooklyn instead.

So the Knicks are now destined to be average, and not great...yet.

I wonder if I'll be alive to see the Knicks get a ring?

pfff lol, I got jokes.

The Knicks are actually serious about this season. We'll win about 40 games or more since we have a deep team. Add Melo as a free agent and we could contend for a title real soon.

The Melo thing is kinda tricky. He wants the Knicks but Denver has rejected any trade offers the Knicks have made. They are willing to ship him to NJ but first Melo would have to agree to the deal and commit to a extension and he does not want to be locked in to a mediocre team for 4 years.

The only way, he gets what he wants is he flat out says "I want to play in New York City not New Jersey. Get me to the Knicks or no deal at all"

If he says that, then all teams they would try and trade for him would not be able to trade for him unless they want a player that will rent them for 1 year and leave. Which then would force the Nuggets to trade with New York for a lesser deal and if they refuse any NY trade attempts, Melo would walk out of Denver and the Nuggets would get LeBroned.

Either way, he would get what he wants.
