Tonight's episode was "Suited for Success"

In tonight's episode Rarity wants to make party dresses for her friends for the upcoming Grand Galloping Gala, and gets an idea of setting up a fashion show in Ponyville. Her promising challenge becomes a nightmare when she tries to make each and every one of them as perfect and specific as possible. As if things can't get any worse, a representative of the fashion world has learned of the fashion show and is coming to visit.

Anyone want to comment?

Just watched it. It... kind of blew my mind.

Won't spoil, but anyone who considers themselves involved in creative endeavors needs to view this. Hell, the entire damn videogame industry needs to view this. It's a wonderful commentary on the relationship between creators/designers, audience/consumers, and pro critics. Best part is that in the end, no one is innocent. The featured song gets really meta, too.

That is all. I'm still sort of shaken here. Episode hit me a lot closer to home than I expected.

PONIES. Cripes. How is a show about PONIES more enlightened than so many of its contemporaries?

- This channel has all the episodes to date. Hasbro doesn't seem to hate it, so...
- Episode list so one catch watch these in order of airing. Though between last week's episode and this one, it doesn't look like the show's being aired in any sort of show-specific chronological order. Weird.

[/hide]Rarity just jumped up like 4 places in my favorite-pony-o-meter. Which is strange, because when the series started I was sure she would be the one I couldn't stand.

For those on the fence: No, this show isn't for everybody. No show is. It's not going to promote world peace or make your toast or tell you who Narutaki really was, so don't expect it to. But for my money, it truly deserves a fair shake. You might be surprised!
