The Joys Of Another Nintendo Indie World

A new Nintendo Indie World broadcast this morning at a time when everyone on the West Coast is fast asleep. Japan’s time zone is even EARLIER so I’ve never understood why these broadcasts can’t happen later in the day. But for those who weren’t conscious at 7 AM, here’s what you missed, one trailer at at time.

It started with a biggie, at least if you’re a follower of Chucklefish. Their magical life sim Witchbrook has been in development for a while but they’re refused to nail down a release date until today. The game will launch on January 28, and elsewhere, Chucklefish confirmed there will be a PS5 version as well.

Winds Of Viridia did not commit to a release date, but promises itself for “early 2027” with a demo available today.

City of None comes from Extremely OK Games (hey, that’s the Celeste folks) and Noel & Liam Berry. It’s an action and puzzle platformer where you face monsters, ghosts and robots to take back your city from man-eating Barons. It’ll launch on both Switch and Switch 2 in 2027.

Sword of the Sea is a cool one, released originally on PC in 2025. Ride the magical Hoversword across deserts, glaciers and shimmering seas as you explore the mysterious Necropolis and set out to restore a lost ocean. We get it on Switch 2 tomorrow.

Sébastien Benard, lead designer of Dead Cells, presents his next game, Tenjutsu. Former yakuza Ten has just gotten out of prison, but her former bosses and rivals aren’t thrilled about that. She must take them out before they take her out. The action roguelike is coming to Switch 2 and PC in 2027.

Every Indie World needs a JRPG throwback, and Threads of Time is this one’s. From Riyo Games and Balor Games, it will launch next summer on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC via Steam, and Xbox Series X|S.

R.E.P.O. first appeared on Steam Early Access last year. It’s an online co-op horror game featuring physics, proximity voice chat, and scary monsters. “Under the employ of a mysterious computer intelligence, you and your friends must locate, transport, and extract valuable items from the haunted remains of a long-lost humanity. Take anything from heavy pianos to fragile ceramics, and use teamwork to make sure the precious cargo reaches its destination safely.”

Behold the first not-boring golf game. The goal is more to hit each other than the ball. It comes to Switch 2 March 25.

Dumpster Gang: you’re a ravenous raccoon and so are your friends in this cool co-op. “Scavenge dumpsters, steal junk, raid snacks and commit tiny, harmless crimes as you work together to complete ridiculous missions and avoid the relentless Exterminator.” It comes in March.

Haunted Paws is a cozy co-op for two players where you create puppies and solve mysteries with them. It won’t be out until 2027 but according to Kotaku, somebody already vibe coded a knockoff called “Ghostly Whiskers.” Ignore that, don’t reward crime, and wait to reward the people who actually came up with the idea.

Kitsune: The Journey of Adashino, from Japanese developer Rias. My fingers are getting tired so…no more commentary from me. “A fox girl and her frog companion are stranded on a mysterious island shrouded in darkness in this 3D action-adventure inspired by Japanese folklore. Explore the island and kindle light within shrines to reveal new routes and uncover hidden secrets. But beware: malicious oni demons lurk in the shadows, and your light is limited. Evade danger in escape sequences and uncover a way forward through one long night beneath an autumn moon. Kitsune: The Journey of Adashino launches for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch in Spring 2027.”

“Continue the adventures of Beatrix LeBeau as she journeys to Rainbow Island, a mysterious land brimming with ancient technology, unknown natural resources and an avalanche of wiggling, jiggling new slimes to discover. Uncover the island’s secrets as you build, ranch and farm within a beautiful conservatory overlooking Beatrix’s colorful new home. Slime Rancher 2 launches for Nintendo Switch 2 in January 2027.”

“Build a life above the clouds in this whimsical, collaborative life sim MMO from the makers of Cozy Grove. Join a vibrant online1 community of lost spirits, fellow humans and small bears with big personalities, and work together to fight back magical storms and restore the broken bonds between worlds. Customize your look, design the ultimate home for hosting friends, or just sit and watch the clouds.”

“Stretch through vents, slither under tables and worm out of windows as an absurdly long arm pulling off increasingly ridiculous heists. Scout each location for loot, from loose change to designer dogs, while a detective one week from retirement narrates your crime spree and interviews the victims left in your wake. Customize your arm-arm with tattoos, bite marks, hair and more as you cause mischief in your own signature style. Featuring a cast of 48 characters fully voiced by Australian comedians, My Arms Are Longer Now launches for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on March 11, 2027.”

“Cali and their sidekick Kira star in this retro-fueled coming-of-age story set in a solarpunk open world. Join an elite crew of motorcycle couriers delivering the latest generation of digital pets and ride through lush, lovingly detailed pixel-art streets. Experience a heartfelt story about life, loss and what we carry with us when Petal Runner launches as a console exclusive for Nintendo Switch 2 on March 8, 2027. A free demo will be available later today on Nintendo eShop.”
