[Comic] Marvel Talk Up Thread

My best guess would probably be a bridge between Jedi and Episode VII.
But-but that time period has already been covered by Dark Horse...

My greatest fear is that they'll completely ditch everything Dark Horse has done.
One way or another something tells me Marvel's handling is going to be more strict.

Marvel being more strict, especially given Disney's involvement will be a given, if the creators are smart, they might work around the history and stories that the Dark Horse comics have already told which shouldn't be hard as I doubt Marvel will really put out as many Star Wars books as Dark Horse did and most likely a good number of their stories released in 2015 will have to do with the upcoming movie rather then original tales.

Well there is also the fact the new movies could very well (and more than likely will) invalidate most of the Expanded Universe. I know that notion is probably not going to go over well at all, but I think we have to come to terms with it. Unless they decided to adapt some of the Expanded Universe stories into movies, but I think everyone agrees that is a longshot at best. The real is issue is how Disney will handle the fallout, since I can just imagine the nerd rage when the first plot details finally hit.

Well how about some good news. In Deadpool #27 Wade is going to get hitched to an as of yet unknown lady. But as a wedding present he (and us) are getting a star-studded special issue featuring new stories by past writers including Gail Simone, Joe Kelly, and Christopher Priest. Hopefully this means more work at Marvel for them since I would love some more Kelly, maybe he could help make the Marvel Universe a little less depressing again. The cover for #27 is below and is fun trying to pick who's who. What I find odd other Artie and Leech being color-swapped is that the whole Power Pack is there except Lightspeed. Plus Anarchist from X-Statix is in the crowd for some reason.

Marvel just revealed their next big event-comic: Original Sin

ORIGSIN2014001011scol-copy-black-6e87a-610x471.avif

A "murder mystery" in which the Marvel heroes try to figure out who killed The Watcher.

Oh man I can't wait to see what new dark secret we are going find about now! My bet is that Uatu caused Reed Richard's rocket to go into the cosmic rays which would be the "original sin" that began the Marvel Age.

In other news Kaare Andrews is writing and drawing the new Iron Fist: The Living Weapon ongoing. Personally I never cared much for his art style, honestly it is hard for me to look at it. Teaser below:

Also Peter Milligan is doing something Doop related no idea what yet, but with Anarchist showing up in the Deadpool cover we may have a X-Statix relaunch coming. If the trend holds we should have an official announcement tomorrow.

UPDATE: Well we have a title: All-New Doop. It will be a five issue mini-series detailing the as of yet unknown role Doop played in Battle of the Atom. I am looking forward to this, while I think BotA was a little weak for a 50th anniversary event (also still no clue why Claremont wasn't involved at all, seriously Marvel let him write again) it was a fun story. I am a sucker for alternate reality/future X-Men though. I do hope this has some time-traveling shenanigans.

And finally probably going to everywhere tomorrow, but we all knew this coming.

Man this is the best comic news I got in months. Not only is the fuzzy elf getting a new ongoing series, it's being written by Chris Claremont. Though I feel calling it Nightcrawler instead of X-Men: Legacy is probably going to hurt sales, getting more Claremont is great regardless. Also judging by some sketch work Kurt will be doing some swash-buckling. Claremont will be joined by artist Todd Nauck.

Also as it was bound to happen Amazing Spider-Man is coming back with an Ock-free Peter Parker back as the lead. And in a shocking move the first arc is going to feature Electro, wait what is coming out in May again.

And finally gets what is getting another revamp, that's right the Ultimate Universe. Following Galatcus's munching on the Ultimate Earth the line is getting another make-over and frankly probably for the best. A problem I had with Ultimate Universe is that it always felt like Marvel re-hash, not really enough of difference for it to really matter to me. But recently especially with appearance of Miles it seems the the Ultimate Universe is forging an existence outside of being an updated 616.

First we have Bendis and Marquez staying on Spider-Man with a new title Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man (a nice little nod there). In addition Miles will be part of All-New Ultimates along with Kitty, Bombshell, Black Widow (who seems to be Jessica Drew) and Cloak & Dagger. This seems like a great line-up and helps move the Ultimates away from just being an alternate reality grimdark Avengers. Michel Fiffe and Amilcar Pinna are the writer and artist, respectively.

And finally the biggest surprise has to be Ultimate FF, the FF here standing for Future Foundation. Here a team consisting of Sue Storm, Tony Stark, Sam Wilson, Phil Coulson, and Machine Man tries to save the universe from itself. In a interesting twist Machine Man is a former Gah Lak Tus Swarm drone who gained independence and took on a new form. This could be a really fun book since seems to be how do protect people from giant purple space men. Hopefully the book will embrace the cosmic weirdness that has been missing from comics as of late. Joshua Hale Fialkov writes with Tom Grummett and Mario Guevara on art duties.

Nooooo!!!

Otto is gone and we're back to boring old Peter Parker.

That said, I do like how Peter rebuilt his own psyche and the fact that Otto decided to erase himself, his last act as a hero was realizing that someone else was needed to save the day.

There's going to be a Spider-Man event in November called Spider-Verse and it'll feature alternate versions of Spider-Man teaming up.

Well I hope we get all the Spider-Men, that includes the likes of Toei Spider-Man and (in my opinion the underrated) Spider-Man Unlimited Spider-Man. Though honestly I don't get Marvel at all with how they treat Spider-Man, they go on and on how Peter being married goes against the spirit of the character. But it is fine to having him involved in a multi-universal storyline with a mystic villain as the central threat.

And are we really going to bring back up The Other? The only good thing to come out of that were the Mike Wieringo variant covers.

Oh and the next Disney Kingdoms is going to be about Figment, which pleases me so much. Figment is one of favorite Disney characters and any attention the little guy can get is good news. They are even including Dreamfinder which along with his appearance at D23 means they haven't forgotten about the old ride. It's a long shot but now that Honey, I Shrunk the Audience! is gone we could get an update to Journey that removes the Imagination Institute. Though honestly a lot of Epcot could use an update.

Sorry... Anyway just a quick question anyone else a little surprised there hasn't been a new Runaways book yet? I mean various members have been used in various titles lately and hell the even have a hook for a crossover with the X-Men titles. Though I still have trouble seeing Molly out of all the Runaways becoming a villain.
