KyuKyu Sentai GoGo V - Talk Up!

I think all we really needed to know was that Ryuuya was just trying to live. Since defeating destiny was the whole point of the show. I personally don't have any problems with it. So I think Timeranger is still amongst the best of the best.

But anyway. Back to GoGoFive.

Anyone remember the ep where Matoi switches bodies with one of the Saima?

Agreed Fantasy Leader, Ryuuya just wanted to live. But destiny couldn't be avoided. Thats what made TimeRanger special. The theme of Destiny and wondering if our will has any control over that really resonates with people even today. Gotta love Timeranger.

I think Shougo knows. I havent gotten there yet....

Well...I'm going off on a tangent here since this is the GoGoV thread....

But I would also like to point out the fact that when each of the characters did their best to change their respective destinies....It made for interesting contrasts. Especially with Tatsuya and Ryuuya. They both wanted to change their futures...only that they did it in different ways.

Anyways...back to the topic of this thread....

I personally thought that the Saima were pretty interesting villains. At first...you would want to hate their guts...coz they're villains, and that you would like to see GoGoV beat the crap out of them and their goons. But...as the series goes on, you get to know them more, and you start to sympathize with the Saima siblings, especially Zylpheeza. The focus of your hate starts to shift from Zylpheeza...to Grandienne.

I find that concept interesting, really. XD

I'm finding that I'm having the exact opposite issue with Go Go V that I did with Lightspeed Rescue.

I thought Lightspeed's villains were much more interesting and complex characters than the heroes, but with Go Go V, the villains haven't really done much to make me care, 7 episodes in.

You're speaking too soon. Yes, you won't care much for them at the start. At the start, they'll seem like your generic villains. But starting around episode 19, a series of events occur which causes all sorts of drama for the villains. And I say that the rest of the series is so much fun. And I just love watching both the heroes and the villains interact. After finishing GoGoFive the first time, it was a much better experience when I watched the first 18 eps the second time. :D

That's why I mentioned I was 7 episodes in.

I'm expecting the villain group to get more interesting as the series progresses. They usually do.

I guess what's interesting about the heroes and villains here is that both sides are actually a family, but what makes them different is that the villains' asshole bitch mother never actually gave a damn about her kids compared to Mrs. Tatsumi who was trying so hard to protect her children despite being in a coma.
near the series finale, you could tell that the Saima siblings actually cared for one another even after all the horrible things they've done, which makes you just wanna pity them for being such a broken family y'know?

The Saima Clan are probably my favorite Sentai villians of all time. Their designs are gorgeous, their character development is top notch, not to mention the designs of the MOTW as well. I have no complaints on them except for the fact that I think they could have easily had an actual human actor face for Salamandes in the same style they did villians in the 80s. Nevertheless, hearing Heero Yuy's voice for Salamandes is awesome.

It's kind of funny though. I have always thought the Saima Clan is what made GoGoV, while the Londarz family in Time were okay. It has always been a thought in my mind what TimeRanger would be like if we had the TimeRanger characters but with the Saima Clan as the villians instead of the Londarz.

@Dr Kain: You talking guys like Toranza or Birugenia? XD

In regards to a villain having an actual human face...they didn't need to do that for Salamandes, IMO...because Diinasu pretty much has that angle covered.

As for the Saima as a whole...I just love that for a villain group...they are incredibly complex. Sure they appear to be cookie cutter "evil because they're demons" kind of villains in the beginning...but as the series progressed...you get to see that they are capable of love...especially when the big three (Zylpheeza, Diinasu, and Kobolda) had to look after each other when Grandienne just left them on the wayside. It's really refreshing to see villains having that kind of aspect to them.

I loved Zylpheeza's 'I am big brother' phase, showed some real humanity. Zylpheeza had the burden of being the eldest Saima and balancing his duty to his mother, and his siblings.
