Kamen Rider OOO - Talk Up!

Wasn't that kick he did his Rider Kick?

I doubt it........it looks like a signature move, but not his finishing "Rider Kick." I mean from the demos for the OOOs Driver, the finishing move is activated whenever the Driver yells "Scanning Charge" or something like that.....and we haven't heard that belt pull that off yet. The Ganbaride version of OOOs might be the closest estimation of what his Rider Kick would look like.

I like that they're using a lot of different locations for the OOO world. The OOO city has kind of a washed out, summery sort of feel to it. Like if Fuuto is Chicago, the OOO city is in LA. I wish they'd give it a name.

Fuuto is nothing like Chicago except for the whole "detective theme" deal. Chicago is a lot more darker, grittier than Fuuto. Fuuto feels like a world that Barney the Dinosaur would have came from.......except that it is consistently attacked by Dopants with a Kamen Rider there to stop them.

Um, dude. I'm talking about Chicago, not Gotham City.

Seriously, I've been there. My sister lives there. They have lovely parks and shops, and the daylight sometimes penetrates.

Reality is not a lameass Frank Miller or Mark Millar comic. In fact, reality has both darkness and light.

LOL......as I'm corrected then. But tell me matt, was there anything realistic about Fuuto or were you seeing the same "Disneyland-eseque" world that I saw from Fuuto? Because Fuuto was too bright for my eyes to look for any darkness despite the Terror Dopant lurking around along with the Utopia Dopant waiting in the wings for his opportunity.

Whatevs.

Just finished OOOs. Not bad so far. It isn't W, but I never expected it to be, anyway.

I gotta say, the villain doesn't impress me. He seems like the goofy parts of Kabuto in one character. Singing happy birthday and baking cakes...that **** ain't scary.

The RideVendors initial performance bugged me. Does he get medals from them, or candroids? I stopped paying attention to the rumor thread. Having so many of them and seeing them destroyed in seconds was kinda ridiculous.

I'm glad Eiji gets his powers from something besides the villains. The main hero being an unwitting dupe to the villains would get old fast. Of course, Ankh's OBVIOUSLY not a good guy, but we'll deal with that later.

At first Eiji kinda got on my nerves, but seeing him during the action part improved my opinion.

"I don't really understand, but if it can save lives...I'll go anywhere!"

Was a great line. He stood around for a bit, but that's what I call the "reaction period", where the hero's still figuring out WTF is going on. After that wore off, he sprung right into action. Comparisons to Shinji aren't quite apt, considering Shinji was just a nosy little snot, and Eiji just fell into this.

OOOs himself fights rather well. The very first pic of OOO's looked like some fanfic's Gary Stu Rider outfit, but the following HQ photos looked substantially better. It doesn't look much better in motion, but at least it's not awkward in battle. It's probably much easier to use OOO's outfit for stunt fights than W's, as well. (Just a guess.)

That Eiji himself wondered why the heck his belt was singing made me feel better about it, but I'm definitely not happy about it. Just not annoyed. What I'm NOT sure about is the Sonic rings that fly out of villains when he kicks the crap out of them. Even for Toku, it looks sort of ridiculous.

I'm curious as to what's up with Ankh, the poor dead officer (or is he comatose?), his sister, and that idiot baking cakes.

I'll be watching the next episode. It's not W, but it's substantially better than Goseiger.

Edit:

big_j_y: You've watched too much Inoue. Just because Fuuto wasn't depressing didn't mean it didn't have sad parts. It just means The Hero Was Doing His Job.

Dude, Goseiger is so bad that even Go-Onger is better than it (I actually like Go-Onger, not as much as Shinkenger, but Go-Onger was ok in its own right).

But OOOs is definitely worth watching for awhile to see if the plot goes anyway. Even after watching the subs, the entire episode still made me go WTF

As for watching too much Inoue, it must be. Then again despite Inoue's flaws as a writer, he gave us Kamen Rider Agito........a really good series that had very realistic elements.

Not to mention there was Kuuga, which wasn't "entirely" written by Inoue, but it was the closest thing to reality in a Rider series than the "land of Fuuto."

I don't think it's supposed to be scary in its own right, so much as the creepiness of him doing it

[hide]over a montage of the motorcyclists being massacred[/hide]

[hide]Eiji wasn't actually fired from his job at Kogami Museum, he left shortly after the Greeed revival incident.[/hide]

[hide]Did he have a choice? There wasn't a museum left for him to work at![/hide]
