Kamen Rider Fourze Discussion Thread - Switch On!

Something about the enemy design reminds me of past Sentais. It could be the disc head guy reminds me of Alpha 5, but other than that I can't really pinpoint why, and I haven't even watched much of older sentais, besides bits of Jetman. I don't know why. I was about to mention that I thought AU Faiz was about highschool and it was a well received arc, I'm surprised that there are some who don't Fourze's setting?

Speaking of fighting monsters though, has been a while since I seen an actor doing bits of the stunt before he henshins. That WAS gentaro's real actor doing that back flip right?

I hope no parents is going to complain that Fourze is a bad influence and get the show cancelled or rewritten somehow. I hate how Hibiki ended. Those claws weren't scary at all compared to Kuuga's weekly grongis.

Hibiki's issue was mainly the fire out of his mouth and the fact children were scared by the bad guys's couple when the show started... Hibiki first part is a UFO in the Rider's world.

It looks like the riders are getting closer to the sentai, the flashy colours, the monsters... Decade had no problem to feel home in the Shinkenger world... They are neighbours.

So how's everybody finding the OP so far?

For me it's grown on surprising well! At first when I first heard it, I thought that this was not near as good as a song as "Anything Goes!", since I liked it when the first episode aired and was dying to get the single so much that I pre-ordered it when it was available!

I think it had to do with the amount of Engrish that was in the beginning that turned me off at first, but now I kinda like it

Can't wait to get this CD single too!

I can get wanting to keep henshin, but the logic that he doesn't say transform is...odd since he's speaking Japanese.

Why not use "Switch On!" then?

Also, is there anywhere cheaper than cafe press?

I have no idea how shooting fire out of your mouth would be scary, I think at least some kids would find it totally cool. I heard the claws and the white blood thing were part of the reason why it's "too scary for kids" too. It has only been a few years after Kuuga and Agito aired that Hibiki came to be, I don't see how it's logical that kids aren't afraid of some of the things in those two series which makes Hibiki looks softcore.

It was less the "shooting fire" part and more the demonic mouth that opened to use it parents had issue with.

You'll notice that later in the series Ibuki loses his big demon maw too when he blows on his horn.

The problem is generally not the children themselves but the parents. Parents association for school or for children's broadcast are strong in Japan.
If a mother part of those has a child that is scared by something, she'll raise this as a big issue.

Kuuga an Agito were the first rider broadcasted for a while and they still has Black and Black RX in mind so Kuuga was something in between, a prototype to relaunch the riders. Agito was a "sequel" that was trying to correct the too violent (mass murder) version of Kuuga. The idea was really to bring the show to what sentai was doing. I think we can see the evolution from a serious dark show to something lighter.

The only two things I liked from the premiere episode were the first 5 seconds and the Fourze suit.
The whole Mean Girls high school crap was cringe-inducing :redface2:.

Oh and btw Gentaro Kisaragi is one lousy yankee, Atsuko Maeda's balls are bigger than his.
