Tbh I think the apparent lack of success of Kikaider means Toei probably aren't keen to jump into another robot hero for a while. But what I really meant was I think that the Super Hero Time programming block probably can't support a third toku show. You'd just cannabalise sales from Rider or Sentai rather than finding new kids to sell toys to. These one-off revival movies don't seem to be going great either. So if Toei were to bring back Metal Hero they'd need to find another USP. Maybe they could try creating a program block with Ultraman, or maybe they need to go after the late night audiences that Akibaranger and Garo focus on. Either way I think they need to accept that a third franchise is going to operate with much lower sales, rather than just hoping that they can revive a character and it will magically make them billions of yen. They could have robot heroes like Metalder, Jiban, Biker and Walter (Winspector), Dozer (Solbrain) and Janperson (throw his sidekick Gun Gibson in there too) if they really need a clear distinction.
In a way Black is an even better example of Rider costume design being influenced by Metal Hero. It was the first Rider to ditch the padded chests and spandex and go for a design that was actually armored, complete with chestplate and erm...crotchpiece? From the neck down Black's suit looks like a half-finished space sheriff suit that is waiting to be chromed and have it's lights fitted. In some ways though, Kamen Rider and Metal Hero always overlapped. Before they went in an organic direction with Black, Super-1 and ZX had attempted to go for silver metallic looks, even if the pieces didn't actually look like metal (but neither did the original Gavan suit back then). It was just a natural evolution of the whole "cyborg hero" concept. Even Black had Shadowmoon. Not to mention that Metal Hero itself tackled a cyborg hero with Jiban.
Eh, there's always been Riders that looked like Metal Heroes or rumours of Metal Hero connections. Den-O has always been followed by an unconfirmed (?) rumour that it was pitched as a Metal Hero show and they told them they could only do it as a Rider.Well I guess Accel was one of the most Metal Hero like Riders. Didn't people say how Accel was like a Metal Hero back when he was first revealed in scans or something? And it makes sense if Drive will look like Accel and a Metal Hero.
Lol it looks more like KabutoRaiger to me than anything else. :anime:It's not much but here are two supposed images of Kamen Rider Drive.
No, sports are lame
