Kamen Rider Decade, was it a complete disappointment?

The whole "Decade has no story" wasn't a comment on the show itself. It's a simple observation on the fact that Kamen Rider Decade had no self contained story in its own world. The Riders return because they had stories, but Tsukasa doesn't...

However, Tsukasa goes on to return anyway, proving that there was a story. The journey through the worlds was his story. The show wasn't trying to say that having no story was the "point". I'm not trying to say that it was well done, but I think you missed the actual meaning of that statement (and Tsukasa's subsequent return in spite of it).

In addition, probably exactly due to that plot element (which I believe wasn't tacked on, but was always intended to be there), they never officially called the world shown in All Riders vs Dai-Shocker, "World of Decade". Even if Tsukasa was from there, Kamen Rider Decade's story itself wasn't in that world.

The only episode I liked was the BLACK/RX tribute, other than that... Complete disappointment. I wish it never existed.

Seeing how good Sentai did its Gokaiger anniversary series, it's kind of like adding insult to injury.

And it can't even be say that they just added that at the end to try to save some grace, because it's right there on the opening from the start.

Yes, absolutely. When it was on, I loved it, not even realizing any of its problems specifically because of how much I wanted to like it. But what ruined that blindness for me was one immense and absolutely crucial moment: The finale. The "Decade" finale movie was the biggest piece of **** I have ever seen, period. Nothing was answered, more clusters were added to the ****, and every single aspect was a cop out (*cough*GENERALZOLPURPOSEOFDECADEROLEOFKIVARA*cough*).
Then I rewatched episodes, and there are still some good ones. The Ryuki, Kiva, and Kabuto episodes were great because they still knew what was enjoyable about the show, though all of those arcs were flawed. However, out of nowhere, the show just felt like it stopped giving a **** and just went RTD on us, finally resulting in a god awful last 4 episodes and a **** movie.

I like Decade a lot. It never quite manages its full potential, but I think it gives an honest try at it. It's pretty daring, and even if it falls on its face at the end, the ride was worth taking. It's a show that is less than the sum of its parts, but they're still some pretty great parts.

If anything it now feels like an evolutionary step. It capped off the return of Kamen Rider that began in 2000, and laid the groundwork for the newer, more crossover-friendly direction the series has taken since then. Decade itself may not have benefited from all that, but Kamen Rider as a whole did.

Did it set itself up for failure by promising so much, far more than it could deliver upon? Maybe, but at the end of the day I can't say it was a disappointment. I had a blast watching this show the first time, and it's still one of my favorites to revisit. And episodes 26~29 are some of the most fun I've had watching Kamen Rider, ever. I can't ask for more than that.

I actually kinda liked Decade as it was airing it's just when it finished and you looked back besides the movies it wasn't very anniversary like.

Personally I'd say Decade is better if you haven't seen the previous series.

It's funny cause I always see people in Decade arguments going "I like Decade. It was my first Rider and I thought AU worlds were pretty good blah blah blah." First off why are you starting a franchise on the anniversary season. The whole joy of the season comes from seeing the Riders you love! Second off course you thought the AU worlds were good. YOU KNEW NOTHING OF THE ORIGINALS! Go watch Kuuga then re watch Decade and watch how many times you facepalm over Onodera!

Onodera =/= Godai.
Somehow people just don't want to accept it.
Kuuga!Decade arc was okay.
Then the writers simply didn't know what to do with the character.
