Kamen Rider Decade, was it a complete disappointment?

As I said, it's okay when you don't know the older ones. Looking back it's pretty crap with all those AU. Decade benefit from not knowing about them.

I can't deny the fact that Decade brought back so many memories of the past Heisei Riders. I had a huge grin on me when I saw the themes of the episodes paying tribute to the themes from the original respective series. Kuuga's episodes was great.

I remember when Decade was anounced, everyone was looking foward to it. But it didn't turned out the way they expected, thus the hatred towards it. Mostly because they couldn't get back all of the original actors, with the exception of 4 of them as well as some extra Riders. However that was never Toei's intention, if it was they would have planned it in advance. The final straw was the show ending with a cliff-hanger, which took alot of guts.

As for "Decade has no story," it was meant to be contradicted when it turned out that the journey was the story. I know that it might be confusing but it was not about the destination, but the journey itself. Which is why each episode was a life lesson.

I consider Decade the tokusatsu version of Code Geass. Disappointments aside, it's not really boring or horrible, just a complete trainwreck.

You know, I think that might had actually played out well if Tsukasa had actually shown at the very least a glimpse of growth in character. We see him going through things and actually developing as a character in one arc, and after a new arc starts he's back to ground zero as the party douchebag with a heart of gold. It's hard to change as a person, probably harder for someone egotistic as Tsukasa, but it won't had been unrealistic for him to start changing just a tiny bit.

I don't know, I'm one of those who didn't like how Decade ended up, but I guess it's our expectation of Decade that we started hating it when it ended on the note that it did. But the Kuuga arc was definitely one of my favorites, Onedera was a good character, like someone else said the writers just didn't know what to do with him.

It's funny cause I always see people in Decade arguments going "I like Decade. It was my first Rider and I thought AU worlds were pretty good blah blah blah." First off why are you starting a franchise on the anniversary season. The whole joy of the season comes from seeing the Riders you love! Second off course you thought the AU worlds were good. YOU KNEW NOTHING OF THE ORIGINALS! Go watch Kuuga then re watch Decade and watch how many times you facepalm over Onodera!

Because Decade is nice enough to give you an overview of how the previous Rider work, so after you watch it you can use it as a guy to decide which series to watch next. From the standpoint of those who got into the franchise through Decade, it was a great jumping off point for new comers.

Also, I personally found Blade's world a hundred times more interesting than the actual series.

On a different note, something that I have always wondered about. Who's the Agito in All Riders vs. Dai-Shocker? Is he the original Agito or the AU!Agito?

Original Agito, played by the original actor. I don't see how you could think it's the Decade tv one. He looks completely different. :eyebrow: Shoichi's profile in the All Riders vs Dai-Shocker site even has a bunch of spoilers for the original Agito series. Sames goes to Kotaro/Black RX too.

And, actually, even the Riders that had no returning actors in All Riders didn't seem to be the ones from Decade tv, like Kiva and Hibiki both having adult voices.

I have not watched Agito, so I'm not familiar with the original actors' appearance. Also, I had problems recognizing AU!Agito in Movie War 2010 (when they're bringing Tsukasa back), so there is always doubt concerning him

Decade's not as bad as some people say it is.Another thing is that the inclusion of Diend made the show much better to watch.

That's exactly how I felt about Kiva's World and Ryuuki's World was so weird I wanted to spend more time with it trying to figure out how the balls it worked.

Decade was... I can't in good consciousness call it "good" but it was an interesting experiment and I kinda preferred its "fun house mirror" expressions of the older shows that got to play into the plots to Goukaiger's "old guys show up and then don't do anything" way of doing things.
