Kamen Rider Decade, was it a complete disappointment?

Gokaiger is more of a fuckwhat than Decade, why? Because there is no way every sentai can be in the same world and NOT bump into each other, and it hasn't been until recently that they've had crossovers. Maybe if they did a Power Rangers-type thing where previous Rangers appeared in other series it would be better but...

So you hate the VS movies too? Because they feature two sentai teams who never met up in their respective series suddenly meet up for the very first time, and defeat a common enemy, before going back and never heard from again. If you can accept the VS movies, then you can do likewise for Gokaiger, as well.

^ The VS movies aren't in continuity, and I don't consider Gokaiger to connect all the past shows together either. For the sake of the anniversary, I say look past that detail.

Decade should have kept it simple: new Rider meets and teams-up with the past Heisei Riders (it was supposed to be the 10th anniversary of Heisei we were commemorating, not the whole franchise. Throwing in Showa made the name 'Decade' a misnomer). Not this convoluted AU junk we got. I'm not convinced that Toei couldn't have gotten back the past actors when they got the entire main casts of Hibiki and Den-O back, and you see that Tsuburaya manages to get Ultraman alumni back for anniversaries on a regular basis, even the minor characters.

Toei never planned to bring back the older actors from day one. If they did, they would have planned Decade 2-years in advance. Besides some of them would have love to come back, but have other comittments at that time, like Hiro Mizushima & Takeru Satoh. However Joe Odagiri will never come back since he found playing Godai difficult, despite liking the production crew. And Shigeki Hosokawa was still bitter over how Hibiki was handled.

But still, even if there was a good explanation, some fans will never accept it.

I think they could have gotten more actors, had that been their intention with Decade, but it's obvious that, at least early on, they were trying to push forward the "reimagination" angle, and so avoided doing that.

I guess part of the problem is that Decade's main producer, Shirakura, was the same person who had previously said that making Agito a Kuuga sequel would have been disrespectful to Kuuga's staff and story. So, he presumably wanted to avoid that type of direct connection, thus the reimaginations/AUs.

Only later in the show, the series distanced itself from that idea to some point (like not using the tv show reimaginations in All Riders vs Dai-Shocker, aside from Kuuga; refusing to recast Kazumi no Joe in the Black RX episodes after his actor refused to return; and also Wataru Kurenai and Kenzaki transforming in the finale), but then it went right back to the AU focus in Movie Wars 2010, with the reimagined Riders being the only ones with any focus and Wataru Kurenai not transforming again.

Well, in any case, there's always the chance that Fourze will become a proper team up show down the line, considering the urban legends about the previous series side of the show and Rider-1's cameo.

Then why bother with a big anniversary shindig? Just do a regular show with a brief "this is the anniversary" screenshot like with Agito and Kabuto if you're too lazy or too cheap to do a proper commemoration.

But there isn't a good explanation. Just excuses. And unconvincing ones at that.

You could bring back the original cast members without connecting all the shows together. You can still have the multiverse concept of Decade without going all the way with having complete revisioning of the past shows. Shirakura's argument could work the other way too, that by doing this you're disrespecting the work done on and stories of the past nine shows.
