Kamen Rider Decade, was it a complete disappointment?

Do you guys think Gokaiger is the result of the lessons learnt by Toei after Decade's disappointment?

I actually have more problems watching Gokaiger than I did with Decade.

Decade going into completely different worlds gave the series as sense of wonderment, making me think about the AU!Riders' stories until Decade interfered with them.

When Gokaiger meets other Sentai, since they are the original ones, it exchanges the sense of wonder for fan-appeal, which in my opinion is a misstep. Especially since it seems that the older Sentai's story from when their series ended until now can be summarized by "The same old thing".

Oh well, that's just my opinion.

More like production staff...........they really didn't give the writers a precise direction to follow EXCEPT "remake the Rider War in the end."

Meaning everything in between was basically **** flying all over the place (basically everything after the 9 Heisei Rider worlds).

I'm on the premise that even if they had gotten Riku Sanjo or some other toku/anime writer that has never written Rider before onto that Decade staff AT ANY POINT during the creation of the show......none of them would have salvaged the mess created by the Production Staff's "lack of direction" for this series (Inoue writing the Nega World & Diend World arcs was insult-to-injury)

I'm the opposite. I like Gokaiger's approach, because it ties Gokaiger with the previous 34 senta teams together, as one big universe. And the guest-appearances of the original actors also led credibility to this premise, and it feels like they attempted to continue the story left hanging from their respective series (such as Gai's ambiguous death from Jetman).

Decade, on the other hand, used mostly new actors for the Riders, and because they create new stories in the AU, it doesn't really give you the feeling that Decade was actually traveling to those worlds, but a world that is somewhat similar to them. I think the main cast of characters, which I like less than Gokaiger's, also contributed to my negative perception of the series.

Btw, I did finish watching Decade and the All Riders movie recently, but I found the finale, except for the cool image of all the Riders doing the Rider Kick, didn't wrap up the series as well as I had hoped. But W's quick cameo, whether consistent with the continuity or not, was a very awesome one.

I admit that Gokaigers' execution is better than Decade's, but I still prefer Decade, mostly because of the life lessons in each episode. While Gokaigers is about the group seeking the treasure by gaining the Grand Powers & earning the older Rangers' trust.

Gokaiger is more of a fuckwhat than Decade, why? Because there is no way every sentai can be in the same world and NOT bump into each other, and it hasn't been until recently that they've had crossovers. Maybe if they did a Power Rangers-type thing where previous Rangers appeared in other series it would be better but...

Btw, I did finish watching Decade and the All Riders movie recently, but I found the finale, except for the cool image of all the Riders doing the Rider Kick, didn't wrap up the series as well as I had hoped.

There's also Movie Wars 2010. The order actually goes more like All Riders -> Tv finale -> Movie Wars 2010.

Anyway, I agree that Gokaiger could do more with the homage episodes. Even disregarding my complaint about lack of transformation of the previous heroes, I feel like they should do more to try to recapture the spirit of the original series. Maybe making the villains of those episodes more separate from the Zangyack could help and make the act closer to the villains of the original series being homaged could help. The Zangyack aren't doing anything anyway...

Even in some cases where they brought descendants of old villains (like the Geki episode), it was pretty much just a visual motif that didn't make him any different from the other Action Commanders.

The Bouken episode is the model that Gokai's episodes should be following, as far as homaging previous series goes, (Well, that + transformation of the returning Ranger, Akashi just standing around without doing anything when the battle started is pretty much the only negative point of that episode).

I don't mind the older Rangers getting their powers back, as long they don't take the spotlight away from the Gokaigers. Which is why I like that they're in a mentor's role instead of trying to recapture their past glory.

I think Sentai is based on loose continuity, in that they are in the same universe but they don't reference each other until the vs movies.

also by recent crossovers do you mean the vs movies? because those have been going on for a long time.
