It's only implied. Not officially confirmed yet; Taiga wields Kamen Rider Saga as King of the Fangire Race before using the Dark Kiva powers. He also summons snakes.

Yeahhh, those snakes weren't even explained what they were and how Taiga summoned them. He's the first to do something like that, another that I could think of would be queen but that's already kinda different-ish.

They never had that extra step to make. Neither of them were as hate-filled as Terui was. They were driven. But unlike Terui, their entire lives weren't consumed by the need to kill Rook. It was only when they were facing him down that they got angry.

Teruiu wasn't deluding himself that he was doing it to set his family's souls at peace. Yuri and Megumi were. If they were actually told to avenge them, to specifically destroy Rook, then it would be entirely justified.

Then there is the fact that the roles they chose were not what their mothers wanted for them: Yuri wanted her son to be the fighter of the family, not her daughter, probably because she didn't want to see her daughter walk the same path of death and pain that she did.

My point is that while they could and should have fought Rook, they shouldn't have done it lying to themselves that violence and vengeance was what their mothers wanted.

I can get what Harlequin is saying. IIRC, Yuri and Megumi were in the state pretty much the same as Terui prior to his realization that hatred is not the answer. Maybe all of them did destroy their enemy in the end, but the mindset was pretty different. Terui destroyed Weather not with hatred but with justice, whereas Yuri and Megumi gave off more of the idea that Rook was indeed the final boss for them to defeat to be at peace with themselves. I couldn't blame them though, since Rook was pretty much like a souless robot doing whatever (even with the amnesia storyline where he became gentle for a while), and he wasn't human... Whereas Isaka was a human who's just plain insane. Besides, Isaka wouldn't have died from Terui's Memory Break, he died due to his own experiments with Gaia Memories.

Yuri and Megumi's hatred for Rook was a hidden most times because I believe that was what the writers wanted, and they just had to insert the Rook storyline to theirs to give them that urge to fight. Not really sure if that's what the writers really wanted, but that's what it felt like for me. Proof of this is the fact that Yuri and Megumi were introduced to us with their normal state, only then was the story with Rook inserted in the middle, whereas Terui was introduced to us as to having that mission to avenge is family no matter what.

Personally, I don't think they are really comparable since the way the characters are introduced to us are different. They might have a similar cause, but their path is really different since their starting point was already different to begin with.

Megumi or Yuri totally would've made good main girl Riders in that series. Whats wrong with ya Kiva

So this Decade!noob has just finished watching Kamen Rider Kiva!

...that was a weeeeeeeeeeeird trip. I suppose I'll bulletpoint it.

- First off: there's Den-O in here. You can deny it all ya want but it's there. There's time travel, there's colorful possession helpers, there's Wataru--actually, on that note, let me back up for a second:

- I actually STARTED watching Kiva MONTHS ago. For the longest time, though,I hit a block a few episodes in just because I could not stand Wataru. In fact, I'm gonna have to say that Wataru is my least favorite Rider of my (admittedly short) Rider-watching career. That guy doesn't have character development. He has mood shifts. Dude made Nago seem natural, and when he's not spending 5% of the show being actually sort of a cool person, the other 95% he's being a goddamn super-woobie. Seriously, Wataru makes me borderline angry. I actually like Ryotaro more. Dude was a woobie too but at least he showed more resolve and was consistent.

- But thank God for his father. Kiva really is The Otoya Show With Special Recurring Sometimes Awesome Guest 753. Didn't like him in the beginning but he became awesome reeeeeeeeeeeal fast and just did not stop. I doubt I have to go into how since he's been discussed up and down the road by now, but just... damn. He's KR's Jack Sparrow. With fighting skills. Also really liked the Arms Monsters, especially in human form. Jirou especially. Dude was hard.

- Back to my original train of thought: there's Den-O in here. Thing is, I liked Den-O, and I love time travel plots, so I was pretty cool with all of this. In fact, I came to like the two-timeline plot a lot more than I initially thought I would! It actually felt like I was getting a dense Heisei Rider plot explained to me as it was happening. Sure it still had holes in it, but I consider Kiva progress.

- That said: hey guys! Did you know that little misunderstandings could totally hurt your relationships? I mean we only spent 30 episodes on plot points revolving around them!

- This show has an excellent soundtrack. "Break the Chain" grew on me to become one of my favorite KR themes, I'm constantly humming "Fight for Justice" and I loved the violin action everywhere.

- Where the hell did the Saga powers come from. Seriously. Someone answer me.

- I absolutely did not appreciate how this series went out of its way to make the 90% of the female cast wholly unlikeable (only Yuri escapes) and/or laughably weak (NO ONE escapes this, IXA henshins or not.) That's just downright disturbing to me. It damn near felt like a mandate that Yuri and Megumi had to suck at their jobs, Mio had to be a bumbler, First!Queen had to be... whatever she was. I dunno by this point.

- I didn't really feel as if Emperor Kiva was "spammed" after he appeared as I'd heard before going into this series. This might be because I've watched so much sentai over the course of my life. Soon as those shows get a new toy, BOOM THAT IS ALL YOU SEE

- The subs I watched for this show were borderline ridiculous. That is all I will say on that matter.

- REALLY liked Kivat-Bat the 3rd. He may have sold the belt for me. If I can find one cheap, just maybe...

- Finally, I actually found the nonsense MARTY YOU GOTTA COME WITH ME BACK TO THE FUTURE ending to just be really cool. Certainly made up for the rest of the finale where just repeated the final fight. No, Toei, don't even try it. I saw what you did there.

In the end, Kiva was pretty okay for me! Mind you, only Blade beats out Kiva as my personal least favorite Rider series thus far, but I still do like it despite its rough spots and and don't regret watching it in the slightest! I'd put it on the same level as Kabuto for me: Kabuto made me orgasm with everything except its writing which had me craling the walls, while Kiva just sort of... did its job... competently.

So, that's Ryuki, Kabuto, Den-O, Kiva, Decade and W down. Still deciding on what to watch next. I REALLY liked the first couple of episodes of Hibiki, but after 48 episodes of vampire, I'm in a sorta techy mood...

It's Faiz time :thumbs:

It was obvious from the start there was hints of Den-O..........that's only if you've watched Den-O before Kiva, which I DIDN'T. Kiva was my first Heisei Kamen Rider series, so I didn't recognize any hints of Den-O until after I've watched Decade & Den-O to realize it. Aside from Wataru's level of n00bness in the beginning of the series in comparison to Ryotaro, the Arm Monsters basically give it away that Inoue was trying to write Kiva in the same wavelength as Den-O by "attempting" to make the Arm Monsters as MORE SERIOUS versions of the Imagins.

But even to this day, I still like Wataru over Ryotaro. My personal reason is that if you're gonna give me a protagonist hero with an extreme character trait such as being a n00b, I will only take the character development of that n00bish protagonist hero SERIOUSLY if they allow him to change into the extreme opposite of his character trait at the end of the series...........which they did. After that whole time travel stint, Wataru ended up changing into this infamous badass that delivers "THE EYE" and makes Fangires run shitless to the woods. For me, I'll take that over..........a n00b protagonist character changes slightly a little bit at the end of the series, BUT IS STILL A N00B OTHERWISE.

I think I just have hatred towards weak protagonist (and antagonist characters aka Kai) for some reason, and Den-O basically exposed that for me.

But I will not lie to you, I hated Wataru in the beginning. As a matter of fact, it wasn't until Kamen Rider Ixa's debut that I was beginning to contemplate dropping Kiva and the Kamen Rider franchise all together. A combination of both Otoya and Nago literally saved the series for me, then Emperor form's debut became the icing on the cake to make me commit myself to watch the entire series to the end.

But like I said, if you're feeling techy now........go the Faiz route. And believe me, when you watch Faiz.........YOU WILL SEE KIVA COMPARISONS IMMEDIATELY
