I'm liking the contrast between Kouga and Ryuga, I've always liked characters with a certain smugness to them.

A plus for me about Ryuga is that he seems to be an outgoing guy towards regular people. That scene where he roams the city after he arrived was really something I dug. Even without subtitles, I found him to be confident about himself and his abilities but still a pretty cheery guy. He's almost what you'd get if you threw Captain Marvelous in the GAROverse, only friendlier.

Which is why Im curious to know what is the deal with his coldness and what seems to me to be animosity towards the 2 knights and that other guy. And why Zaruba is giving him the cold shoulder (which is pretty fucking amazng since Zaruba doesnt even have a neck).

I really like Kouga but I have no complaints so far with the new guy. He strikes me as a guy whose adventures Id like to follow.

I miss the old cast, sure, and Id love to see them again if I could. But I have a good feeling about this new era of the bearer of the title, Golden Knight.

Just gave the new episode a quick look, and by quick look I mean I just watched bits and pieces but I hope I think I have a general gist of what the episode had to offer.

Okay so as far as Ryuga is concerned, I really like the guy. Now this might piss some people off, but for one reason of another (I don't really know why myself) Kuriyama reminds me of Tsukasa from KR Decade. Strange I know. Something about the vibe he gives off. Anyway I am really glad Amemiya decided to do a 180 degree turn on Kouga's characterization in Ryuga. Not that there's anything wrong with Kouga, but it is a nice change of pace. Which is one of the main reasons I can't really pull myself to finish Makai Senki. It's a labour of love, I swear.

I know, right? It's so weird. Half the time I didn't even realize that Zaruba wasn't mouthing off to Ryuga during any of the action sequences or anywhere in between. Now I am not up to speed with Makai Senki but I have seen Kouga and Zaruba's relationship in the original Garo, so I am very curious to see why Zaruba is giving him such a cold shoulder. And the fact that Zaruba isn't the type is doesn't open himself to other people, especially now with the new holder of Garo title. Maybe that's why.... hmmm.

And the CGI. Well I'm not the type to hate on CGI, but I do hope we have an in-suit armor further down the line. The new Garo armor looks okay when we did get a 5 second glimpse of it, but dog the priest had (again not caught up on Makai Senki) was a bit jarring to be honest. Then again, it has been awhile since I have seen CGI on a Japanese tv show.

Speaking of the new armor... how does everyone on HJU feel about it? Originally I thought it was pretty cool having it being silver and gold (brings a Zero vibe to the Garo armor), but some of the details of the new armor are a bit iffy to me. Personally I really dig the new design, its just the boots that he's got on. It's the pointy pixie boots that Dan the White Knight had, and I didn't think Garo would go from the cool, animal feet to those

Besides that I'm hoping that when the time comes when Garo's new armor turns back to its original gold, it better be so good that either I have to pick my jaw off the ground, or have a new change of pants ready.

^The Kouga version of Garo armor didn't have animal feet either. I don't know about the figuarts or the other figurines, but the TV series doesn't have it. To be honest, I found Rago, the makaiju Burai uses, pretty cool. Reminds me of the form the Garoken takes in Soukoku no Maryu

On the figures, the Garo armor has something that resembles toes. They're more prominent on the Makai Kado figure than the Figuarts one, at least based on pictures I've seen. Figuarts only has one clawed toe on each foot and sculpted lines to vaguely suggest toes, while Makai Kado has individual toes sculpted on. I'm not quite sure about the show suit, though.

Ack, man do I feel like an idiot now... guess I really had the E&P image of Garo in my head a whole lot and never really paid any real attention to how Garo's armor was in the actual show. C'mon who did right? I kid, kid. But I guess it's kinda disappointing how that aesthetic didn't carry over to the brand new Makai Kadou line. I really dug those, if you can't tell already.

Oh no, I found him really cool too. Kinda reminds me of the tiny dragon things in Red Requiem. Or I think was from the first movie, my memory is pretty jaded on that one. It's just that the CGI kinda threw me off a bit at first, but no biggie.

Saw the first episode, and while it's not bad in any particular way, I found myself warming up to the new cast rather slowly. Maybe it is because the last Garo series hasn't been concluded too long ago, and maybe because they're doing this without any association with the previous 2 series and multiple movies. I think I need some time to adjust to this new Garo and the new, more upbeat, atmosphere.

Upbeat atmosphere? watch the 2nd episode, Takeru having sex, Junichi Haruta as a Mado Horror that somehow doesn't actually want to kill human, etc. How do you know it doesn't have any association with the previous series? There's going to be an association with the previous series, the synopsis already said that how the armor lose it's shine and how Zaruba got into Ryuga's hand are plot point. That is just the 1st episode, just be patient. Rian and Enhou are much better than Kaoru IMO, I like them more than her already
