GARO: Season 3 - The One Who Shines In The Darkness

There is also another thing about the first season.
I have noticed when showing it to other people, that those who loved Kaoru also loved most of the first season, while those that didn't like her as much seemed to have a hard time getting through it.

Most of the first episodes are pretty much following the same plot "What trouble will Kaoru get into today?"
I happen to like Kaoru a lot. She is actually my favorite character in the show, so I enjoyed that a lot.
After episode 12 or so (the one about Kouga's past) the show seemed to start moving, and then we got an action-packed (but sadly rushed) finale.

I think Makai Senki is easier to swallow for some, because it has a more interesting plot, which actually focus on the knights and priests.

One reason I had trouble getting through the first series was that I didn't like Kaoru OR Kouga (I also found some episodes difficult to watch such as the one with the sculptor, and I thought the show in general was too weird for me.) Now I love both, and changing my opinions about them made it a lot easier to watch Makai Senki quicker

Is it just me or is the pendant that Burai is wearing -you can see it around 3:39 in the new trailer- the same as the one Barago has?

BTW, I've heard from somewhere that during the recent Garo event, it was said that Junya Ikeda's character Takeru will sleep with different women in every episode, can anyone confirm this?

.

You know what Scissors, that might be it for me. I struggled marathoning through the first season of GARO, and it might have been because of Kaoru being the center of the plot.

That's not to say that I hated Kaoru, I actually liked her. But I guess 4-5 episodes into the first season, I just got bored with her and needed to take a break for awhile since Kaoru barely did anything interesting except worry and pity over Kouga.

I started marathoning the 2nd season aka Makai Senki two days ago, and I'm already at episode 17 as I am making this post. The fact that Makai Senki tries to explore the entire universe of GARO as a whole instead of trying to center around "Kaoru's world" is basically what is keeping me sucked into trying to finish this thing.

I'm impressed so far with Makai Senki, I can't stop watching it and I'm starting to feel 24 episodes PLUS that movie that is not out on DVD/Blu-Ray yet won't be enough for me, and I'll most likely be heart-broken by the time I reach that final episode (and that movie when the RAW is finally out).

Well maybe that's because you don't believe in LOVE AND A BEAUTIFUL BOND YOU MONSTER!!!!

After watching the trailer again, I have only one negative thing to say.
Using CGI instead of real suits is a really REALLY bad idea.
It looked horrible when they did it with Leo in Makai Senki, and it looks even more horrible here.
Especially because both Horrors and Knights are now full CGI. I would not mind it if it actually looked good, but the problem is that the CGI they are using makes it look like a bad PS2 game. The way they move around is just not right.

I thought Garo had a higher budget than your average Toku? :sly:

It has a bigger budget, the second season got around 1 billion yen and the CGI still look more impressive than Sentai or Kamen Rider, IMO.

It's probably true. The cast bios describe his character as a serious womanizer, someone at the screening confirmed there's more nudity than ever before, and Junya Ikeda says the reason he wanted to be part of Garo is because he loves the boobies  Oh well. He may be no Yuki Kimisawa but I don't mind seeing him half-nude

After seeing Soukoku no Maryu, I'm convinced that the inconsistent quality of CG in the series' is not because of lack of skill from the CG artist, considering the high quality of most of the visual in the movie. It looks like the time and budget constraint of TV series compare to movie have a real huge effect on the quality.
