GARO: Makai Senki - Talk Up!

BTW, what is up with all of these Zelda references lately? Gokaiger had the freaking Triforce. Garo Makai has its big villian named Ganon, who is defeated by magical arrows. Is Kamen Rider Fourze going to have a weapon called the Master Sword appear in it?

The Gokaiger thing isn't really a Zelda reference. That's actually a symbol supposedly pretty well know in Japanese culture.

It's the mitsu'uroko, the symbol of the clan that founded the first shogunate. I'd say most Japanese people would think of that before they'd think of some video game.

In terms of villain writing, Sigma definitely feels like less of a threat than Barago, Ganon < Messhia.

I like to imagine this exchange like this going on off-screen before Makai Senki started.

Kouga: I just stabbed a dark god in the face!

Tribunal: Great, here's a promotion.

Kouga:....that's it?

The main actors and Keita Amemiya announced the news at the International Anime Fair 2012 in Tokyo today, to much of a roar from the crowd. Originally Keita had planned to do spin offs with different characters, but decided after Makai Senki to continue Kougas story. The translated text from the teaser below:

The Promised Land
A world beyond imagination
One knight who traveled by himself
Dragon of the Blue Cry
Kouga Saejima’s Final Trial.

cannot wait!!!!

I would love to see Tsubasa get his own mini series. Hell, I would love to see Jabi with her own series.

Well, they can play it off with the Jabi/Rekka tandem... A spinoff for the Makai Priest/Priestess.

Jabi is one of my favorite characters-though I always notice how...odd her neck is.

Is it me, or does she have a very long/slender neck?

This isn't me being a fetishist or anything-it's just kind of an odd thing about her actress. Like how fucking pastey white Rekka is, or how big Karou's eyes can get.

I know right? She's almost whiter than Kouga's trenchcoat.

I love how hard she's un-acting, doing that Kouga-like demeanor thing. Especially when you see her as a regular person when they were promoting the movie (she can do normal). It's probably just how she is being directed I suppose.

Really guys? No Rin? She was more crucial in Beast of the White Night than Tsubasa (I hate his character in everything Kiva though) and all she gets is a namedrop? Probably have school or something, but yea, itd have been nice to see her 5 years later.

Watched the first episode. I thought it was pretty good! A small bit repetitive on the set up but EVERYTHING felt improved from the original. It really surprised me!

How is the rest of Makai Senki? Because it looks like it's fixing all the problems I had with the original. I looks like it'll actually EXPLORE the mythology behind the series and add more CHARACTERS for the cast to interact with, and as a plus, the monster of the week for this first episode actually had a passable backstory that was INTERESTING to watch! ALONG with the Inga object he spawned from! Why the hell couldn't they do that the first time?

Oh, is it just me or does anyone else have the feeling that the creator of the series has a giantess fetish? It just dawned on me as I finished Red Requiem.

Yeah, Jabi has a really long neck.
