Good. It's about him and Kaoru. Whenever you don't have the two of them the story writing seems to dip. Completely losing them would make it much less engaging for me.
My biggest problem with Makai Senki was that the existing characters like Jabi and Rei really don't play a big part in it. Rekka was always a Jabi clone for me anyway, and Dan just turns up for cameos. Jabi is one of my favourite supporting characters so the more of her we can have in future the better.
Yeah, although I think the outfits they put her in emphasise it too.
More characters? Yeah. Exploring the mythology? Not really. A lot of ideas from the first series get repeated this year. Instead of Kaoru it's Kouga and Rei who have a certain amount of time left to live. The big bad is a minion of last season's big bad. And so on. The series is more of the same really. Very stylised, very good action choreography, but the story can stall a bit at times. I do love the way the Kouga/Kaoru romance is treated though. A great change to the melodrama you normally get from romances in an action series. Even if there are times when I'm sat there thinking "for ****'s sake man, kiss the girl already!!!"
