GARO: Makai Senki - Talk Up!

ok, maybe im missing something here, but how do we know which one of Kougas Makai in training group Sigma was? I recall the look on Sigmas face when he saw the lanyard from Kougas jacket that they all shared which made me think 2holy **** he was one of the other kids", but apart from that i cant think of anything else that would have pointed to it.

also, didnt they all get killed in that random monster attack (save for Kouga/White of course...???)

Purple teleported to safety. During one of Kouga and Sigma's last fight before Edea was activated we saw a moment where Kouga noticed and recognized one of Sigma's scars. There was even a quick shot of Purple to clarify what was going on.

I've gotta say that this series was overall, pretty disappointing. For once, the filler episodes were far more interesting than the series' plotline. The ending fight felt bland and boring, especially with how incredible the first season's final battle was. I loved that they did not transform in the final fight, but the fight just seemed empty. The best fight in the entire series was the one between Garo and Sigma back in episdoe 7, which is pretty sad, as it is the only one that felt truly epic. I do not know why, but the beginning of this episode felt off with its starting point. They should have done some type of previously thing to get you pumped, because I just sat there waiting for it to end. The ending was also bland, and while I know it is leaving off for the movie, it just felt empty and not a good ending to the series. It feels like you have to buy the DLC to get the ending. :-D

The series was not bad, but it did not live up to the expectations that the first series brought. In fact, this series was really unneeded. I just hope that if they do decide to do another series, it gives us other Makai Knights because I am sick of Kouga and Zero. I would even love to see one on Tsubasa. OH yeah, and Kaoru was completely useless this entire series. There was no need to waste time on her.

BTW, what is up with all of these Zelda references lately? Gokaiger had the freaking Triforce. Garo Makai has its big villian named Ganon, who is defeated by magical arrows. Is Kamen Rider Fourze going to have a weapon called the Master Sword appear in it?

I always find it odd when ppl say something was disappointing because it didnt live up to (their) expectations.

Like ppl overusing the phrase: "X is overrated"

Personally, I try to assess things as they are, not as how I want them to be.

Still, very interesting insight even though I cant agree with it myself.

Thank God I wasnt the only one that took a while to put two and two together about Sigma.

Pay close attention to the moment Purple gets squashed by the Horror. You'll notice petals scattering about. Petals that had no business being there. It's the same effect that happens everytime he or Leo uses that teleportation technique. You'll get to see it a lot more of them using that technique in ep 19 (when the twins were kids) and 21 (fighting on the train).

hmmm i guess. i just assumed that was some form of magic being erupted out of him as a result of his death or some ****

Why? I did not hate the series, I enjoyed it, its just that after what Season 1 had gave us in terms of stylish battles, I expected more. I really loved the casino episode, the one with Zero and the tree, the samurai episode, but the series felt like it could have been told in 18 episodes as opposed to 24.

Still, it was far better than both Red Requiem and Kiba Gaiden combined.

For me I think where Makai Senki fell short of the original (and keep in mind that I still loved Makai Senki) was that the overarching story never felt as solid or as compelling as the original show's. I really got caught up in Kaoru's ticking clock and was eager to see how that would play out - I never felt the same sense of tension with the Mark of Oblivion. I will give Makai Senki props for having that ongoing plot tie into the final villain more clearly, though, as the original just kinda pulled "oh yeah, Kiba totally needs Kaoru to open the gate to Messiah" out of nowhere. Still, I felt a lot more concerned about the characters and what was going to happen in the original.

Even the one-shot episodes in Makai Senki didn't feel as compelling. Probably because the ongoing plot felt so much bigger in scale and I had less patience for unrelated side trips.

Still loved Makai Senki, but I have to say the original show was better.

In all honesty, Kaoru did not need to be in this show. She served absolutely no purpose to the plot, and all of her scenes were pretty much wasteful. Sure, there were a few good moments with her, like the one where her and Leo went on the spirit journey, but there was no need for her to be in 90% of the show. She did nothing, she brought nothing, and she ended with nothing. They could have only had her in the show for a few episodes and you would never have missed her, nor would she have come out feeling so pointless.

I do agree that the Mark of Oblivion did not work, there was no emotion there. It was just there.

As for the Kibe needing Kaoru thing, I think just having him be there as her doctor from the beginning shows it was planned from the get go, but that is also something the Jp always do. Something that happens to have to have a revelation. It's like that if there is a dead sibling to a series, that dead sibling will suddenly be alive and turn out to be the main villian in the end. Or if there is a man you see in the background more than once, it will turn out he is the main villian. The Japanese have just become so predictable with their writting these days that it is hard for them to pull out a true twist anymore.

I think the only scene in Makai I was surprised at was that Leo turned out to be a Makai Knight, the rest was predictable.
