Disney buys Marvel

Wow, I don't know what to make of this deal. It could become a huge financial success or it could make Marvel's characters too child-like. I just hope Disney doesn't try to screw up Marvel's characters because they have a huge great library of characters.

I got the news from a friend this afternoon.

I'm rather surprised by the news! Yeah, fans are afraid that Disney's going to make Marvel's characters into over-the-top singing characters, team up with Mickey Mouse, Hannah Montana and such.

On the other hand, I'm not that worried about it. This is most probably what many other "hardcore" fans were fearing, that Disney will water down the decadent grimdark crap they were enjoying the past 2+ decades. If (and I mean IF; doesn't necessarily mean it will happen) Disney makes the characters more family-friendly

Disney won't sacrifice the integrity of the characters, their original animated content the last few years (besides Kim Possible) really has been underlooked. Jake Long and SRMTHFG were spectacular outings. If they put that talent on new Spidey, X-Men, or Hulk series, we are in for something special.

If Joe Quesada indeed contemplates leaving Marvel, that will make my day.

I've already seen fans chastising him and Bill Jemas (the other guy nobody ever brings upv because he stays away from the meddling side of buisness) for "selling out" Marvel, taking the money having ruined a lot of iconic characters, and running.

At the same time, Stan Lee could make the most of this and worm his way into Disney's good books. Beyond that true beleiver demeanour is a master manipulator of the courts whose taken Marvel to bat on his good days several times. Plus the man could practically be a Disneyland attraction all by himself
