Disney buys Marvel

Didn't read it. I like Millar on specific projects. FanFour didn't seem like the right fit for me.

That's a general consensus amongst a lot of fans. Miller can be awesome on one title and **** on another, the same applies to Bendis, Slott, Fraction, Yost etc. There's no Editor having the sack to keep them on titles there GOOD at and that's why quality goes up and down like a yo-yo.

Miller sabotauged everybody. Johnny Storm? He got even more obnoxious. Doctor Doom? His badassery was retconned because he had a "grand master" pulling his strings. The Thing reconciled with Alicia under Slott but that's forgotten about and he falls for some new character nobody's ever heard of. To top it off, Sue Storm got a quasi-time travel shitfest that was just "The Best of Who is Donna Troy"

The best FF issue from Miller was the tie-in to Secret Invasion with Lyja coming back (albiet breifly), and actually getting some decent characterisation

They don't need to tone down the seriousness. It won't be same Marvel at all.

It could be a better Marvel without being locked into the excessive amounts grimdark bullshit all the damn time. That's not something that has to mean Mickey Mouse but maybe it would mean comics finally getting its head out of Watchmen's ass.

Yeah...some are blind to what the grimdark **** is doing because there over-thirty , dateless, or pine to be single again. Reallisticly, all the moral high-ground is gone and there basicly reading generic ciphers one after the other with no variation. It's The Watchmen scenario to a tea...the irony about THAT was it had a semi-happy ending for the loser/innocent tagalong of the bunch and an ambigious tease of justice being served. Marvel is content to just let their heroes fester in their own feces forever with no upswing...sooner or later, that becomes unreallistic even by their standards.

At least D.C lets their heroes wallow in **** for a breif period, then resolve it by having them eat the **** and use the **** as a sheild against the **** that put them in the **** in the first place.

Personally I think the difference between DC and Marvel in that respect is minimal to zero at best but I do really like how you put that.

Ironically Marvel despite taking various chances with its characters is run by higher ranking members to the Church of Status Quo then DC, although the fact is they are both members and DC's major changes are usually either event aftermaths or trying to fine tune it universe for its major characters.

Either way, I doubt Marvel will change that much, especially since aside from having slighty off panel graphic violence in most of its books, lately they have been becoming more and more PC with its characters. Heck, they put a ban on smoking a few years ago.
