[GAME] CthulhuTech: The Eldritch Society -- Episode 1

At the sight and smell of the two new enemies, Feast was now smiling. An action that opened his mouth to reveal his fangs. "More prey to devour!" The Vampire Tager was nearly salivating at the Dhohanoid buffet before it. Grey managed to gain a bit of control and forced the Vampire back a bit. "We need to end this quick! Don't know how many more are here waiting!"

Staying mid-range stealth got into position and readied his aim. Assessing the situation it looked as though Namarok who appeared physically the strongest and Derebith which seemed capable of attacking biologically were the greatest threats. If he could paralyze both they should be able to resolve the fight sooner. Arming his needle pods the shadow Tager fired off his paralytic darts toward both Namarok and Derebith as feasts monstrous half boasted, hoping to catch the two off guard.

As the two new Dhohanoids arrived to back up their ally, Lancer shot Torch a quick look. Given that expressive was not a word that could accurately be used to describe her transformed state, it wasn't exactly clear what sort of look it was. Turning her attention back to the battlefied, she saw Stealth had already made his move trying to pin down the new arrivals. Seeing as they seemed to be under control, she decided to go after the remaining Dhohanoid. Lancer let out a vicious inhuman howl before launching forward, trying to impale her target with her blades.

Still 'grinning' Feast suddenly focused and went still. Monster eyes gazed at each of the Dhohanoids in turn. Pupils widened as a decision was made. With a silent roar, Feast swooped in the shadows. Strait above the drooling Derebith.

Diving down at inhuman speed, Feast shot out a talon-tipped claw and latched onto the Derebith.

"DIE!"

Daredevil’s Hard Test: SUCCESS.

“Liny, wait—,†Rotor began, but the Whisper had already set off. She pulled in her lower lip hold back a curse, and followed her through the darkness towards the boat. Daredevil sailed through the shadows, wings blurring soundlessly amid the crashing of the waves and the soggy rocking of the towboat, until she landed on the outer deck. She could hear movement nearby. Three people, maximum. One was talking. Sounded like orders. The captain, likely as anything.

Rotor’s Hard Test: FAILED.

Rotor reached the edge of the harbour wall. So far, so good. She watched Daredevil, crouched on the deck. The sorceress made ready to hop over beside her, but she mistimed her launch. Her front smacked against the edge of the boat, and before she could say what was on her mind (which was, “Ow! My f**king boobs!â€) or get any sort of grip, she slid backwards and fell into the water with a loud splash. Daredevil heard the talking cease, and the footsteps begin.

Combat: Stealth vs. Namarok
Namarok rolls Dodge (8). It rolls 1 die for damage (9). Namarok sustains 9 points of Flesh Wounds and suffers no Test Penalties.

Namarok rolls a Hard Tenacity test to resist the paralytic poison (35).

Namarok’s Hard Test: SUCCESS.

Combat: Stealth vs. Derebith
Derebith rolls to Dodge (12). Derebith sustains no damage.

Stealth opened the assault by spraying a storm of needles from his arm-mounted pods. The Derebith reacted by skittering to one side and out of range, leaving sticky, slimy green footprints in its wake. The idea of moving, however, did not occur to the Namarok’s simpler, bestial brain. The needles stuck right in the hard skin of its armoured head. The Dhohanoid twitched its facial muscles a few times, dully registering pain, and then let loose with an angry roar at the Tager, flinging foul spittle from its grizzly maw.

Combat: Lancer vs. Ramachese
Ramachese rolls a Challenging Strength Test to remain upright (10).

Ramachese’s Hard Test: FAILED.

The Ramachese is knocked down, rendering it unable to defend this turn. The Ramachese rolls 4 dice for damage (20).
Ramachese sustains 12 points of Flesh Wounds, then 8 points of Light Wounds and suffers a -1 Test Penalty to all Actions.

The Ramachese spotted Lancer charging towards it, and readied itself to defend against the gruesome, crimson blades, only to be taken off its guard when the Tager screeched to a halt in front of it. Rather than attack, the Eldritch creature’s throat muscles visibly flexed, vibrating, and then from somewhere beneath that pale, skull-like visage came a terrible and forceful howl that momentarily deafened the Dhohanoid and knocked it flat on its back. The monster squirmed, but Lancer was already upon it, hacking with her blades. She left two gashes in an, 'X,' formation in its chest and cut through to the dark flesh beneath, drawing a shallow pool of gungy, black blood.

Combat: Feast vs. Derebith
Derebith rolls Dodge (25). It rolls 1 die for damage (8). Derebith sustains 8 points of Flesh Wounds and suffers no Test Penalties.

The Derebith caught sight of Feast coming down towards it, and once again it tried to skitter to safety, but was not quite fast enough to avoid feeling the sharp talons rake down its back, rending strips of foul, mangy, black fur and skin that clung to the Vampire’s paw. The rodent Dhohanoid glared with pale green eyes at its airborne assailant. Steam rose from its back as the cuts boiled and singed its awful flesh.

The Namarok, although lacking eyes of any kind, seemed almost to be glowering at Stealth. It snarled and snorted, like a rabid dog, and charged towards the Tager on all fours. Its jaw opened wide, its slobbering tongue hung out, its teeth and claws glimmered like knives in the sun, digging scores in the tiles. The beast was intent on nothing else bar striking down the one who dared to come into its territory, and worst of all, bring harm to it.

Combat: Namarok vs. Stealth
Namarok rolls Strength (+4) + Fighting (3) + Savage (0) to attack Stealth (18). Stealth must roll his Armed Fighting, Fighting or Dodge Skill to defend. If he does not beat the Namarok and its attack is successful, he must engage in a Strength Feat Contest (as in, roll half his Strength Attribute, rounded down, and add it to his base Strength) in order to avoid being entangled.

Daredevil quickly shot out one of her whips in the spot where Rotor sank, hoping to catch and fish out the sorcerer before she got snatched away by deep ones... or worse.

"That ... may have f*cked this up" Liny thought in her own head.

Result: 7+10 = 17

Both Varna and his Symbiont couldn’t help but be caught off guard by the sight of namarok charging right toward them. Acting more on instinct then strategy Stealth tried his hardest to force the hideous Dhohanoid out of the way and against the wall.

Daredevil’s Easy Test: SUCCESS.

Daredevil’s whip snapped into the water, and she felt it wrap around Rotor’s waist. She hefted the sorceress, wet, miserable and coughing, out of the drink and deposited her on the deck beside her. Rotor looked sheepish to have made such a stupid mistake, but she also looked perturbed. She thanked the Whisper in a murmured voice, then her eyes were drawn to a point over her shoulder. “Somebody’s coming,†she whispered. “We need to hide somewhere before they see us.â€

Stealth rolls 2 dice for damage (11). He sustains 11 points of Flesh Wounds and suffers no Test Penalties.

Namarok and Stealth roll a Strength Feat Contest (21 / 15).

Namarok wins the Contest. Stealth is entangled and suffers -2 to his Actions so long as he remains in his state. He also suffers a -4 Test Penalty to his remaining 1 Action. He may still defend himself and, on his next turn, roll another Strength Feat Contest to attempt to disentangle himself.

Stealth fought to redirect the oncoming Namarok, but the beast was nimbler, and managed to wrap its bulky forelimbs around the Shadow and drag him to the floor. Being this close to it, Stealth could clearly smell the powerful, stomach-churning odour of decay on its breath. The Namarok let its weight hold its intended prey down and bit into the tough flesh of his chest. Blood trickled out of the wounds where its teeth pierced his symbiont armour.

Liny reaches out with her insectile arms and scoops up Rotor as if she were a child. She could move faster than the human and could get them to places normal pursuers could not follow... she would also have to protect the woman if supernatural enemies showed up.

She was looking for shadowed nooks or climbing places, safety first but if she had a chance she would also like a good ambushing spot.

Roll: 4 - 10 - 1 - 9 - 7
Result: 10+9 +11 base= 30

The fiery tager eyed the Derebith with a literally burning desire to subject it to his own particular brand of burning righteousness. His flames flared up as he ran at the Dhohanoid, further giving away his excitement at the prospect. He pulled his right arm back as he neared the otherworldly abomination that dared to threaten him and his comrades.

Looking the beast in the eyes, or at least what he assumed were its eyes he let his fist fly, with the intent to deliver a powerful uppercut to the beast.
