Biggest Toku Shoot Down?

There was nothing wrong with Go-Onger, just like there was nothing wrong with Den-O. They were both very lighthearted seasons. People tend to forget that these shows are geared for kids, and while I tend to think that kids can handle a lot (**** look at Faiz) I also think sometimes kids just wanna see wacky scenarioes and huge explosions.

Not again with the 'kids show' excuse. -___-

Den-O was a more or less solemn story wrapped in light-heartedness. (So much that, sadly, the story itself got overshadowed and overlooked by the fans.) Go-Onger has...... nothing. At all. It's vapidity wrapped in more vapidity.

You want a generally light-hearted Sentai (that comes after a more serious show) that still has an actual point, go watch Kakuranger. Now that is Go-Onger done right.

I can't think of a sentai that takes 20+ episodes to pick up.

Within these 20 episodes we've had alot of character development, Juzou arriving (which will be explored more, soon), ShinkenGold's arrival, and even the Decade tie in for the crossover.

Give it some time and I'm sure the big Juzou/Red thing will happen. I also hope they explore who actually killed Takeru's father.

This is why I stopped watching Kamen Rider Decade by Ep 44 because that Kiriya-kun, who annoys me a lot.

Wait... Kamen Rider Decade have episode 44? Since when?

Anyway...

Biggest disappointment goes to:

Disney's Power Rangers (execpt for RPM)
Boukenger
Go-onger
Justiriser
Sazer X
Rescue Hero

I'd appreciate it if they emulated the shows that got things moving quickly rather than the ones that stalled. Hell at this point in its run Gingaman was moving along at a more rapid pace with its Lights arc. What has Shinken done but just throw in the cliched sixth Ranger and more mecha?

Why are people forgetting the Villains? Ok maybe the Shinkenger's weren't "doing anything" 3 or 4 episodes ago, but now they are. The story is that the Gedoushu and Shiba house have been battling each other for years, Now the Gedoushu are trying to envade the human world by flooding It from the Sanzu River. That was never lost, the goal Is still there, and we can clearly see the tension rising.

Besides mecha, and Genta. Doukouku has gotten stronger, Shitari is more clever and fighting, the gedoshu are still trying to figure out the Sealing Kanji, The Charcters have been greatly developed and is now taken care of, and now we're going to get some backstory on Juuzou, a legendary power up, and later on story on Dayuu.

What more do you want? What killed me was when you and Bad Wolf said " right now" because It's like your not even watching, right now Is when everything just picked up!

Now you badwolf, and shougo know your ****, but damn is there anything that impresses you?

^ About Shinken? At this point probably just the costumes, villain designs, the premise itself (as opposed to how it actually turned out) and Kotoha and Mako as characters. (Even Takeru is starting to look dull, and I liked him.)

In all honestly, I would have really enjoyed it if the show really utilized the feudal motif to its highest degree instead of being so tame. I've mentioned it before, but inclusion of more things that were part of samurai/feudal life and warfare: house guards, warrior monks, ninjas (as spies and temporary allies), swordsmiths, etc etc. Make it in essence a real, feudal-style war set in modern times. The past comes back to plague the present.

That's the problem with these "anachronistic" - themed shows like Zyu, Ginga, Time and Shinken: rarely if ever does the motif get executed satisfactorily. Timeranger I think is the only one that seemed to get it right. Granted, Shinken isn't egregious in its flaws like Zyu and Ginga (at least they don't wear ancient clothing 24/7) but come on, they can do much better.

What would you like for them to do?. Run around acting like idiots with their talking cars?.

Have you not watched Sentai before?. Sometimes it takes a bit of time for a series to pick up. Personally I have no problem with how Shinkenger is going but I do agree that something needs to happen soon with Fuwa Juzou & ShinkenRed.

I think it's funny that a guys who know a sentai goes for about 50 episodes, are complaining that things are not happening right now. Also their complaints about Shinkenger not having anything happen that is meaningful, is pretty much them being wrong. There has been character growth from all 5 shinkengers. We have learned more about the villians. Takeru has become more open and accepting than he was at the beginning. For anyone to say it's just them sitting around waiting for a new mecha... That just proves to me that person isn't watching the show.

Now you badwolf, and shougo know your ****, but damn is there anything that impresses you?

Genta
the Godzilla SFX for the Origami
the actor for Juuzo is the same guy who played Grande in Ultra Galaxy NEO.
Ebi Origami's battle mode.

but this isn't a praise thread.

Within these 20 episodes we've had alot of character development...

Not really, it always just goes in circles. We haven't learned anything about the characters that we didn't know by episode five. Takeru's a cold and all business with daddy issues, but we'll learn deep down that he cares and is soft -- we know this. Mako wants to be a housewife, so she'll be there to mother a group member. Chiaki's a prickish slacker, but will learn his lesson -- until the next episode. Kotoha makes a mistake and spends the episode whining about how dumb she is, until one of the team members convinces her otherwise. Genta's a screw-up idiot, but is skilled and can prove himself -- until the next episode. On and on, in circles. It's just been stuck, anything that they do with the characters will be reset to do again.

And what happened to Yasuko Kobayashi knowing how to write villains? Since Ryuki, she's taken this easy way out when it comes to conflict. Ryuki's mirror world had a time limit, making sure that the evil characters (namely Asakura) couldn't just stay henshin'd and pound a character. Den-O had all the gimmicks to take easy outs. And now Shinkenger, with the villains never being able to leave their boat set and do anything. But please introduce another villain who will just be locked away and can't do anything.

Shinkenger's been a disappointment. Fans have long waited for a samurai show, so it's that much more of a disappointment. It could have all of Go-onger's designs, and you'd have the same show. The Japanese have countless stories related to samurai and that time period, and this is the best they care to do? It's like America screwing up a Western.

Not again with the 'kids show' excuse. -___-

It's not an excuse. Go-Onger is an excellent series, incredibly funny, great likeable characters, fun action.

And what do you mean it has no plot, its got plenty of plot. I really don't feel like writing it down right now, but if you want me to I can go into plot detail...

Besides, the Sousuke Banki episode alone is worth the series. The guy who plays Sousuke is a brilliant actor.

Man I hope I don't get as cynical and tired as you guys one day :(
