Avengers: Animated - Promo

But just because Jack Kirby did a great costume, doesnt mean thats the be-all end-all to it.

Well, no, but it begs the question of why you have a guy who is probably a worse artist than Jack Kirby design a different costume. The only advantage you gain is to update it.

In the comics, that's necessary because of the way comic book coloring is done these ways. The cartoon is clearly interested in emulating the 60s Avengers as closely as possible and is using similar flat coloring.

So... there's no point there in using the modern costume, you might as well use Kirby's instead.

This is actual his armor from the start of Avengers Initiative. The Sentinel Squad ONE armor looks like the old War Machine armor mixed with the Iron Man Modular armor from the early 90's but in Sentinel colors.

Also I believe that the Sentinel Squad was such a missed opportunity, but so many things have been since House of M.

As for the promo itself, seems rather good other than Kang's weird face. Of course Iron Man is going to take the lead, of all the Avengers he is the one with the most appeal and recognition at the moment. As for the Wasp compared to some the outfits she has worn this one is actually decent. I will admit the dress is a bit girly but out of any character she is the one that will probably end up getting a costume change somewhere along the line at least once and probably more. I still have an issue with recent push to make the Hulk a team player though, but it could be worse and he will probably be the first out when a line-up change happens.

Okay, if they HAVE to go retro, then I say go with the Kirby Design.

But if I'm thinking who I'm thinking designed the Thor costume (Michael Turner) then you sir have officially made a lifelong enemy.

Also Keith, Power Armor is NOT a power, its armor. Hell anyone can wear power armor, doesnt mean they have powers. :P

Tony's "powers" come in the form of his genius level IQ and his ability to think quickly in times of stress.
