It's veeeeeeeeery rare that I see Iron Man armor that doesn't look ugly tho.

Were I a superhero... I would not choose Iron Man powers.

Not really, it keeps the iconic look, but plays it down a bit.

The weird circles become small buttons to fasten his cape and tunic together, and some decoration on the bottom of his tabbard. The big billowy cape gets a bit less billowy, instead of curving MASSIVELY over his shoulders, it plays down over his shoulders, its still billowy, but it looks more realistic. The helmet isn't so overblown, and neither are the weird boot flaps. And everything is given an armor-ish feel with the chain/scalemail on the arms and legs. Also, instead of a giant T on his belt (I'm pretty sure Vikings didn't use our alphabet) he has a viking rune (Urr I think...).

This is the perfect way to update a costume and still keeping the iconic status of it.

Meh. Fuckin with a Kirby classic there. Though I could live with it more if not for the sleeve armor. That looks more knight than viking. Besides, realism is not the point of superhero costumes. Trying to wedge them into that box just sucks all the fun out of it. I'm not saying it's okay to be completely reckless and stupid with costume designs but...

If we want talk realism then there is simple fact that he's a freakin God. How important is armor really?

I do prefer the movie design to actual Extremis. Also the octagonal thing on the chest just bugs me because one, I just think a circle looks better there and two, that's a shape I more readily associate with Superman's symbol.

But just because Jack Kirby did a great costume, doesnt mean thats the be-all end-all to it.

Yes, Jack Kirby is a genius, yes his designs were fantastic (for the most part), but Thor's costume is just to...WTH. Yes I know he's a god, and yes he can run around stark naked (No pun intended) if he wanted to, but my own personal taste likes the new, more realistic approach to the older costume.

And yes, I like the movie costume the most IMO.
