2017-2018 Kamen Rider

My fear is that this show will turn out like most Riders now: that despite a sober plot with nuanced characters, the wacky cartoon hijinks and saccharine tone of the show will dilute the impact the story ought to have and waste most of its potential. OOO, Fourze and Drive all suffered from this, and now that I'm getting through Ghost I see the same thing happening there. Wizard was weak all around. Gaim is the only show in recent years that was the closest in tone to early Heisei, and even that couldn't get away entirely from this.

On the plus side, I'd like to hear what Kenji Kawai can compose for Build, as I enjoyed the Nexus soundtrack.

Well, it looks a damn sight better than Ex-Aid (yes, I know it's meant to get more mature as it goes on, but I *cannot* get past those awful suits, no matter what level up stage they are - and I liked Gaim!)

Amazons, or whatever may succeed it, are probably the only place you'll find early-Heisei style material now. The modern stuff is somewhat more like Showa with it's mix of really serious and totally goofy.
Okay. Not so much bottles....more like beakers? Test tubes? Science stuff. He's a physicist or something.
They seem to be trying to push him as some sort of scientist (some blurb claims he's meant to be the smartest Rider ever - watch him be your standard everyman lol) but given that his second quarter power-up is a soda can I think they're meant to be bottles. Though they look so similar to Geed's capsules.

Showa never gets as bad as "Phase 2" Heisei can be. I'm not left thinking comedic Showa characters belong in an insane asylum the way I do many of the "ally" characters now.

But speaking of Amazons, is there more in store, or will there be another Showa Rider that will get a Heisei spin in the future? I'd be interested in seeing a ZX show with the suit based on the SIC figure, or even J. (Shin and ZO might be a little too close to Amazons.)

TRANSLATION OF TRAILER NARRATION
10 years ago the “Pandora Box” was found on Mars. On Earth, it created walls that divided Japan into Touto (Eastern Capital), Hokuto (Northern Capital) and Seito (Western Capital) and brought along the Smash, unidentified beings that attack people.

Sento Kiryu, prodigy physicist, transforms into Kamen Rider Build to fight the Smash.

The Touto government requests his help in deciphering the mystery behind the Pandora Box and the Smash.

There is one mystery not even Sento can solve: his own past. The only memory he has left of more than 20 years is the existence of a sinister figure called, Knight Rogue.

There is one man who holds the key to Sento’s memories. A prison escapee by the name of Ryuga Banjo, who adamantly denies commiting the murder he is accused of.

Misora Isurugi who works with Sento, has the ability to purify the harmful components the Smash are made of.

The theme tune is called "Be The One" and will be performed by PANDORA ft Beverly. Beverly is a vocalist signed to Avex Trax who sung the opening to the J-Drama CRISIS.

A preview of the song can be found on Avex's official PANDORA page http://avex.jp/pandora/

At least the belt isn't jabbering endlessly. I guess that's the best we can hope for at this point. I'd still remove the "Are you ready" and "Yay".

The song sounds good. Two themes in a row that I've liked. Maybe Rider's dry spell since Hibiki for good theme songs (punctuated by Decade) is clearing up.

This image has been going around on twitter. I don't know where it came from or if it's genuine, but it's claimed that it's a title card for the movie team-up of Build with Ex-Aid. The text states that the film is called "Kamen Rider Heisei Generations FINAL".

Well, that picture of Ex-Aid and build fighting is from the toy catalogue, and takes place during Build's debut in the Ex-Aid movie. It's not out of the question they'd reuse the image, but I'm dubious about it.
