Gokaiger = Biased towards it due to my disappointment of Goseiger, I'll give it another chance.

Raito | トッキュウ 1号
Always facing forward, trying to seize joy out of life; a young man who's spirit is like energy. He is the one usually giving it his all, the type to easily be fired up and go against the odds. Out of the 5 Tokkyuger, his SouzouRyoku (Imagination Power) is the highest, and therefore, so is his fighting power. Usually acts before he thinks. Hates cramped places.


Tokacchi | トッキュウ 2号
A man with an extremely cautious,punctual character. When something happens, he is the type that wants to investigate/research first, but becomes very incessant when regarding the results. He is a specialist at analyzing enemies and making plans, but, he's really bad at being on time.


Mio | トッキュウ 3号
A sports-minded young woman with a confusing character. Though she is strong-minded/manly, she is really good at housework. From this interesting gap character, she is quite popular with the boys. In truth though, she hates the idea of romance. In the Tokkyuger group, she acts as the big sister.


Hikari | トッキュウ 4号
He is the "Follow my own path" type. Apart from his imagination power, his natural fighting power is very strong putting him on even footing with Raito. That said, he and Raito often have opposing views on how to do things. While he is quite obedient to Mio, he often teases Kagura.


Kagura | トッキュウ 5号
A young girl second only to Raito in Imagination Power. However, Kagura's imagination power often takes a negative direction. In essence, she tells some tall tales, and unforseen events usually take place. Because of this, Kagura's body can't really handle fighting to well. However, if she were to ever master her Imagination Power, it's likely she'd become an unbeatable warrior...[/HIDE]

The combination of Utsunomiya as head producer and Kobayashi as head writer, THIS DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE EXPECTED............plan yourselves accordingly when this new series reaches that point.

I'm ready...mentally and physically.

We might get some "awesome" episodes during the break just like in Shinkenger, where Takeru turned into a cat and Ryuunosuke was a peeing statue and it was HILARIOUS! I can't wait!!!

(I like Shinkenger but come ON, that episode was terrible ...)

smh, let's not touch on that episode..ever again.

I like their dynamics, and them saying Mio is confusing is actually really nice to hear. The Green/Yellow duo, naturally seems to be my favorite so far..but that is just on paper.

What did you not like about Chiaki?

Chiaki was neutered half way through the series. His love line with Yellow fizzled out and his abrasiveness towards Takeru turned into being his henchmen like the other 4. This guy sounds just like Chiaki before all that so I'm hoping this is Koby trying again.


Also I wanna ship someone.

Well, it seems like I'm being Captain Obvious but Chiaki was never going to resent Takeru for the entire series, this is Super Sentai. I felt that rather than being "neutered", Chiaki matured into a young adult who could accept and even respect Takeru's differences rather than a bratty little kid who threw a strop and threatened to quit the Shinkengers every time Takeru looked at him funny.

And I hated the Chiaki/Kotoha stuff so I was relieved when it died off but maybe that's just me.

Yeah but they never explore how he gets over it. And besides he wanted to beat Takeru not usurp him. They could of still shown his independence in the show but instead he just became another one of Takeru's servants.

And I hated the Chiaki/Kotoha stuff so I was relieved when it died off but maybe that's just me.

Yeah, I doubt Kobayashi's going back 10 years or more (although if we adhere to this absurd "Sentai's only good every other year!" belief, by that logic Shinkenger was one of the "good" shows, and Toei deliberately got its three main creative staff back for Tokkyuger)

Shinkenger was a good series though. It wasn't anywhere near the best, but it was still a really great series as it had a strong ranger cast with really good writing for them, especially Chiaki, who was the best character on the show. Plus Juuzo and Daiyu (or whatever Nihon decided to change her name to a few times) had incredible development. It's just that the rest of the villains were wallpaper, there was a huge stall in plot for 10 episodes, and the mecha got ridiculous.

Nevertheless, without going into details of the series on what is what, here is my one word description:

Aba - Good
Deka - Bad
Magi - Good
Bouken - Bad
Geki - Good
Go-On - Bad
Shinken - Good
Gosei - Bad
Gokai - Good
Go-Bus - Bad
Kyoryu - Good

Are you kidding me? He had the most development outside of Takeru. The guy went from a total jerk to actually learning about his flaws and then fixing them. Add on top his subplot with Kotoha. Not to mention he had the best weapon in the show. He had some really great episodes like the one with his father, the one where he was stuck to Ryunosuke, etc.
