In the fall of 2015, the loot shooter Warframe added the playable Earth elemental Atlus. Of this guy, Digital Extremes said “Atlas uses his titan-like size and strength, and an arsenal of powers fueled by rock and stone, to grind his opposition into dust.” But even this wasn’t apparently enough for him, as three years later, he’s become the variant Atlas Prime — the 26th Prime in the game. The Warframe Prime Program now includes Atlas, the Sentinel companion Dethcube, its Deth Machine Rifle, and Atlas’ signature fist-weapon Tekko. Find these variants traditionally through the in-game Relic hunting system, or purchase them in the Atlas Prime Access package. As of today, you can compose music in Warframe — which is not something we expected to ever say about a loot shooter game. But in the Saint of Altra update, the Shawzin instrument has been added to the Marketplace. It gives Tenno the ability to compose their own songs, record them, play them back, and share them with others. Log on and create some jammin’ tunes! That’s not all that’s new. The 41st Warframe, Gauss, has arrived. Speed is his specialty — his kinetic energy allows him to wield powerful offensive and defensive abilities like Mach Rush, Kinetic Plating, Thermal Sunder, and Redline (see the Warframe website for specific details on what these moves do). As free-to-play loot shooters go, Warframe doesn’t have quite as many fans as some of the bigger boys, but its fanbase is a devoted and rabid one. This weekend Tennocon, the London conference for Warframe fans, was held — and its developer/publisher Digital Extremes took the opportunity to reveal some radical changes coming to the game. Here’s what to expect from the Empyrean expansion: Connect the Community With Squad Link!: This ground-breaking multiplayer system connects the world of Warframe in an entirely new way. Transcend beyond your solo objective and connect with the larger community by reaching out to other Tenno squads using the Squad Link. In multi-objective missions from space, players can call up on other squads of active players to help the bigger cause — lower enemy ship shields, steal valuable data, and more. Assault, Steal and Pilot Enemy Ships: Players can now infiltrate opponent ships using Archwings and command them in a variety of missions. Become a swashbuckling #Spaceninja, Tenno!
