The original Darksiders, released back in 2010, was an eclectic blend of everything from God of War to Portal. While Darksider’s story, setting and presentation were all top notch, many of the basic gameplay elements felt somewhat parred down in comparison to its many inspirations. So after plenty of hype and lots of media attention, does Darksiders 2 manage to rise above its predecessor to carve out its own identity? Definitely.
Here you’ll find an informative little trailer from Vigil and Prima Games explaining how the loot system in Darksiders 2 operates. It’s a great feature to add to a game like this, and should make every kill and dungeon delve feel more than worthwhile. I especially like how possessed weapons get stronger by feeding them the power of other, lesser weapons. Pretty cool stuff. Check the trailer out below. httpv://youtu.be/u7cXSP6Mixo
In this awesome trailer from Darksiders developers Vigil Games, we get to see the many ways in which we’ll be able to create our own unique version of death through leveling up and an extensive loot system. This is probably the best new feature they’ve added as it should really give you a reason to tackle dungeons and quests looking for that next great item. Here we have an awesome little video showing off some of the inventive and fantastical locations that you’ll be visiting in Darksiders 2. As my most anticipated game of the next few months, I can’t wait to get my hands on this thing. Check it out for yourself below. httpv://youtu.be/Gij8L5tV7Y8

With THQ facing a potential delisting from the NASDAQ, their new president Jason Rubin is definitely in a tight spot at the moment. Sadly, one of his first cuts may be directed at Vigil Games and their Darksiders series. Rubin said:
“Darksiders 2 is very interesting, but I think I can get that team to make other very interesting games.”
Considering that Darksiders is one of my favorite games of the last few years and, in my opinion, a highly underrated title, this news makes me extremely sad. Hopefully Darksiders 2 sells well enough to secure the series a place in THQ’s future. [Source]
According to a blog post on Darksiders II’s official website, the game’s release has been pushed back from June to August. This of course makes me incredibly sad and happy at the same time. Sad that I wont be able to play it as soon as I’d hoped, and happy that the game will be getting the polish it needs. I’m so conflicted right now. As quoted on their site,
The rumor-mill has been churning with speculation recently, so we wanted to put it to rest first here with our core fans: Darksiders II will be moving to release globally in August 2012, rather than June as previously announced. It’s just a short delay, but we promise the game you’ll have in August will be well worth the wait! This is great news for the team at Vigil, because it allows additional time for polish and to ensure that all aspects of Darksiders II meet the high-quality bar the team is targeting. In game development, more time is always a good
The title of this story pretty much says it all. As one of my most anticipated titles of 2012, Darksiders 2 pretty much looks to outclass its predecessor in every possible respect. You gotta hand it to Vigil, they sure aren’t holding back. Check out the trailers below.
