Mandy Rose (Amanda Rose Saccomanno in real life) was fired just 24 hours after losing the NXT Women’s Championship. Knowing their long-term plans for her, this news comes as a surprise. She is the most successful alumna of her Tough Enough Season. Despite finishing second in that reality competition, Mandy’s career has been more successful than the winners’. WWE signed her to a five-year, $1 million contract, and she stayed with them for nearly ten years. She had highs and lows, but when she returned to NXT to revitalize her career, it flourished. While serving as the NXT Women’s Champion, she led the dominant Wrestling Stable Toxic Attraction for 413 days. Toxic Attraction is the most successful female group in WWE history because they won every belt in NXT simultaneously.
If you don’t know the name Tony Schiavone, you’ve probably heard his voice: he’s been the announcer for the WCW, the WWE and now AEW (All Elite Wrestling). Soon, you’ll be able to read all about the man’s life once Source Point Press publishes “BUTTS IN SEATS,” a biographical comic.
Is it possible for wrestling and horror to blend together? Someone’s sure going to try. Wild Eye Releasing is bringing you Wrestlemassacre on digital platforms next month.
For the longest time, there were only two professional wrestling leagues: WWE and WCW. There have been halfhearted attempts to start a third (do I have to remind people ECW existed? I’d prefer not to), but nothing really clicked until 2018, when wrestlers Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) broke from wrestling promotion Ring of Honor to hold their own independent wrestling event, which they dubbed (at the time) All In.
The new podcast for TNT’s All Elite Wrestling series is now live. AEW: Unrestricted will be released weekly, hosted by referee Aubrey Edwards and broadcaster Tony Schiavone. Each episode will be an hour in length and contain in-depth conversations with the stars and staff of AEW. The first few episodes will feature interviews with Jon Moxley, Cody, The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) and Brandi Rhodes.
WarnerMedia announced today an expanded relationship with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), the groundbreaking new wrestling league that has already redefined wrestling with resounding success after only a few months. WarnerMedia has extended their deal for AEW: DYNAMITE, a top 20 new cable unscripted series, through 2023. In addition, the parties have agreed to launch another night of AEW action, offering more of the fans’ favorite wrestlers, with a second show straight-to-series.
(Warning: This article contains some NSFW discussion and some slightly NSFW pictures. I would recommend being 18 or over to read this. Reader discretion advised.) I was first introduced to my next interview subject in 2000 when I saw my first adult movie, a 1986 film called Lottery Lust. The opening featured a performer named Gina Carrera in a very smoldering scene with Buck Adams. Over the years, I would enjoy Gina Carrera’s works in adult movies like Stiff Competition and Ball Busters, and enjoyed the passion and intensity she delivered in her scenes. Many years later, Julie Winchester was recommended to me as a friend on Facebook. I looked her up on IMDB since she looked so familiar, and I saw that Julie Winchester was Gina Carrera. With that, I sent her a friend request a few months back, and she accepted it. From there, we set up an interview, and spoke on Monday, June 18th, 2018. There’s more to Julie than her adult film work, as she’s also a wrestler and a singer, and has appeared in a few mainstream projects as well. We talked about all that, and I hope you enjoy hearing her stories.
I’ve always admired women of strength. Strength takes many forms, from the physical to the mental to the emotional. One of the strongest women I’ve ever known of is my newest interview subject. Spice Williams-Crosby rose like a phoenix from the ashes of addiction and a terrible car accident to become an actress, a stuntwoman, a body-builder and an advocate for abused women.
There are some performers who can do a little bit of everything. They can act and do stunt work. They can sing and dance. They can write scripts or songs. My next interview subject, Rocky DeMarco, has managed to do all of that over the course of her diverse career.
During the late 1980s, the World Wrestling Federation had a Superstar whose fame and popularity reached supernova levels… then quickly faded away He was born James Hellwig, but in reality was a warrior – in fact, he was the Ultimate Warrior. Fans of a certain age will remember Vince McMahon screaming “THE ULLLLLTIMATE WARRIOR” in his famous growl.
World Wrestling Entertainment announced plans to launch a 24/7 linear streaming channel dedicated to their popular worldwide brand of sports entertainment, or as we tend to call it, professional wrestling. The WWE Network goes live on February 24 immediately following their popular prime-time showcase, Monday Night RAW. In addition to the streaming channel, the WWE Network will have a large video-on-demand service where fans can access documentaries, original programming, classic matches, pay-per-views, and network programming from the WWE, World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) libraries. The network is promising at least 1500 hours of VOD programming at launch, which is quite impressive.
