On Friday, Sega announced that the official mobile game of the Olympics, Sonic at the Olympic Games – Tokyo 2020 is heading to Android & iOS. Now, the game will officially be launching on mobile devices on May 7, 2020. However, fans of the franchise can pre-register now to obtain rewards; like most mobile games, the amount of the rewards depends on pre-registration goals. Thankfully, we also have the full list regarding the registration goals: ▪ Goal 1 – 100,000 pre-registrations: Allows players to listen to the “Ocean View” music track from Team Sonic Racing. ▪ Goal 2 – 300,000 pre-registrations: Players receive additional Training Points that can be used to unlock events and special skills. ▪ Goal 3 – 500,000 pre-registrations: Unlock the badge featuring Miraitowa, the Tokyo 2020 mascot. ▪ If the number of pre-registrations passes 500K, additional rewards will be offered! Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 was released earlier this month for Nintendo Switch, but for those who haven’t bought it yet or are unsure, Nintendo and Sega have created a demo version — and it went live today. Tokyo 2020 (the Mario & Sonic version) consists of over 30 events, 10 of then being special “retro mode” versions where the characters appear in their original sprite form, and the banners read “TOKYO 1964,” the last time the city hosted the Games (a bit anachronistic, as video games weren’t possible back then outside of MIT labs). The Retro Mode is attraction of a brand-new Story Mode that sees Bowser Eggman scheming to trap Mario & Sonic by sucking them inside an old game console called the “Tokyo 64.” This Story Mode is inaccessible in the demo, but two Retro Mode events are playable through the Quick Match menu: Long Jump and 10m Platform.
