DCTV Shows Generate $1 Billion Revenue a Year
It’s no secret DC Comics brand has been strong for a long time, especially with the movie universe now fully up and running. But now, as The Hollywood Reporter notes, Warner Bros has revealed that their television lineup, the DCTV Universe, generates about $1 billion dollars of revenue a year for the studio. Lest you think that’s not impressive, because certain movies can generate a billion dollars in about a month give or take depending on the franchise or title, consider this: Movies make their millions via the box office, or people buying tickets to go see a film. For TV though, the sales are a little more broken down into various segments. There’s DVD sales, which no doubt are a big chunk, merchandising, licensing fees, and also broadcasting rights. There are a lot more revenue sources for the TV shows to make said money. Easily, the cornerstone of this $1 billion dollar empire is the shows on The CW, which now totals five shows: Supergirl, iZombie, Flash, Arrow, and Legends
