Catwoman: Hunted will be coming to HBO Max and Bluray. This is not DC’s first time dabbling in the world of Anime because there has been attempts before. Batman Ninja is DC’s first attempt to make an anime and it was well-received by the fans. Catwoman: Hunted is directed by Shinsuke Terasawa who worked for multiple Anime titles. Unlike Batman Ninja, Selina’s solo film will have hand-drawn animation instead of CGI. It has a serious style of art work but the movie promises a lot of humor.

In 1992, Sean Young Michelle Pfeiffer made waves as Catwoman in Batman Returns. Other Catwomen have taken turns in the role since, but none have been quite as iconic, whether that was due to the movie being terrible (Halle Berry’s unfortunate role) or the character barely resembling Catwoman at all (Anne Hathaway in Dark Knight Rises). Somebody we might have another Catwoman that measures up, but for now, only Pfieffer gets her own statue.

Long long ago in the ancient time of 2004, John Rogers worked as co-writer on Warner Bros’ disastrous bomb Catwoman. He didn’t remain on the project to its completion, but his name is prominent in the credits. This is important to know because this week journalist D.C. McAllister openly asked a very dumb question on Twitter: “If Black Panther is getting all this credit for black representation, why didn’t Catwoman get the same credit?” He was serious.

Suicide Squad is a curious film. It was by far one of the most ambitious titles in the DCEU when it released, as it focused on established villains without showing them (more-or-less) fighting the heroes that they are known to clash with. Despite it doing well financially, critics and fan noted a very uneven film, and the limited user of The Joker was harped on by many. The director of the film, David Ayer, has now been attached to a spinoff film featuring Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy. Aka The Gotham City Sirens.

As he stood upon the rooftop looking over Gotham, we knew that Batman was coming.
