There’s a lot of confusion going on with the DCEU, and the people behind the scenes, like the actors, actresses, and directors, aren’t helping matters! Take for example the Suicide Squad situation. We know there’s a sequel, and they finally landed a director. But, there’s no certainty about who’s coming back, or is there? It’s assumed that the team (the ones that lived in the movie that is) are coming back, but those that watched the movie saw that at the end, Joker broke Harley Quinn out of prison. So, they’re not coming back, right? Well, that’s where things get weird. You see, Joker and Harley are set to star in their own movie. One which will likely break the two apart, leading to a Gotham City Sirens film that will be headed up by Suicide Squad Director David Ayer. And yet, he posted on Twitter the other day a picture of Joker and Harley from Suicide Squad. And there’s conflicting reports stating they will or won’t be in the sequel,

Suicide Squad is a curious film. It was by far one of the most ambitious titles in the DCEU when it released, as it focused on established villains without showing them (more-or-less) fighting the heroes that they are known to clash with. Despite it doing well financially, critics and fan noted a very uneven film, and the limited user of The Joker was harped on by many. The director of the film, David Ayer, has now been attached to a spinoff film featuring Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy. Aka The Gotham City Sirens. At San Diego Comic Con, Ayer talked to IGN about what drew him to the film, and it’s apparently a very personal reason. “It’s a story about three fantastic women who’re trying to find their way in the world, and realize that they have more power together than they do individually.” He added, “I have daughters, and I want to create something that might be able to help them get along in the world a little bit.”

The DCEU is in a very uncertain place in many ways. While it’s had three movies release, and all four were box office hits, there’s still a lot of uncertainty about what’s coming. The Flash has had director issues, The Batman lost star Ben Affleck as director and is rumored to be delayed, Aquaman has been pushed back, and so on and so forth. That hasn’t stopped Warner Bros from apparently getting Joss Whedon to do a Batgirl film, announcing various sequels and spinoffs, and other very interesting things. And if a rumor on Reddit and 4Chan is to be believed, they’ve got big plans for 2019. Apparently, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Batman as a character, WB is planning to have not one, not two, not three, but four Batman films in 2019. Them being Gotham City Sirens, Nightwing, Batgirl, and of course, The Batman. That’s a lot of Batman and Bat-family in one year. Now again, this is a rumor, and is in no way substantiated by

The Gotham City Sirens were a team forged by Paul Dini in the Batman comics after the apparent death of Bruce Wayne. It consisted of Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn. If rumors are to be believed, the TV show Gotham is trying to make their own version of the Sirens. But this one features Barbara Kean and Tigress. Though not named as such in the show yet, the actresses behind the characters are saying they’re called that. And, it looks like Season 04 could see the rise of them. As Tigress herself Jessica Lucas has said the following: “Oh, I don’t want to spoil anything, but I think that is the plan,” Lucas said in an interview with Heroic Hollywood. “I love that they started it out in an unexpected way with Barbara and Tabitha because neither one of those characters are part of the [Gotham City] Sirens in the comic books. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the long rumored Harley Quinn spinoff film for the DCEU is in fact going to be Gotham City Sirens. Furthermore, not only will it co-star Margot Robbie, who starred as Harley Quinn in the financial success Suicide Squad, but will be directed by Suicide Squad helmer David Ayer. For those unaware, Gotham City Sirens was a comic that debuted during the “death” of Bruce Wayne in DC Comics. With Dick Grayson now under the cowl, Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, rounded up her friends/allies Harley Quinn and Pamela Isley, aka Poison Ivy to do some good of their own. The comic ran for 26 issues, and was written by legendary writer Paul Dini, who was the showrunner and head writer for Batman: The Animated Series, as well as writer for the first two Arkham games.
