Is Q-force dead on arrival?
Q-force is coming to Netflix this September 2, but feedback is bleak. It is an ambitious project because it has a star-studded cast. It wanted to hit multiple birds with one stone. After the cancellation of Archer, this project is an attempt to fill its void for an adult comedy animation. The people behind this also wanted to make an LGBTQ-inclusive animated series. There is a proven market with the success of Stephen Universe, Avatar: The Legend of Korra, and Harley Quinn animated series. The She-ra reboot is polarizing, but I can still consider it a success. Some of the most beloved in Japan have LGBTQ themes like Yuri on Ice, Sailor Moon, and Banana Fish. Some of the series I mentioned are on the Netflix library, so they are aware of the demand.
I have never seen a Netflix trailer getting so many dislikes since the trailer of Cuties.
The dislikes this show is getting are not from Homophobes, because if that is the case then all LGBTQ content would have got the same dislikes. The People disliking the show are the audience this show is intended to. The biggest complaint is Q-force has stereotypes instead of a more realistic portrayal of the spectrum. There is nothing wrong with having flamboyant characters. They exist in real life and it’s unfair to delete them in favor of breaking stereotypes. The way they represent them though looks like caricatures.
Here is some reaction from the people this series is intended to:
@netflix #QForce is soooo blatantly homophobic in its “representation” I’d rather you just call me a slur and move on with it. You guys really took the stereotypes and fucking ran with them.

Considering the enitre world is already making fun of us (at least when they're not beating us up or killing us), yeah, sure, why not reinforce everything the homophobes already think of us and ridicule us even more.#QForce is not homophobic, it's misguided and insulting.

Maybe people just have a bad first impression of the show. I challenge the creators of this show to prove their critics wrong. Make their characters as people with hopes and dreams instead of representation quota. They Don’t to change the design of their characters. The Team Behind Qforce just need to focus on making good stories that are interesting to watch.
