Joker And Harley Quinn Movie Apparently Greenlit
During San Diego Comic Con, a persistent rumor that surfaced was that a “Joker Vs. Harley Quinn” movie was apparently in the works. Now, Variety has confirmed that this is indeed the case, and that WB/DC are in “final negotiations” with Glenn Ficarra and John Requa to help make the film happen. The film will have Jared Leto and Margot Robbie reprising their roles as Joker and Harley Quinn.
If the names Glenn Ficarra and John Requa sound familiar, it’s because they direct the very popular show on NBC called “This Is Us”, and have earned a lot of praise for it. So for them to do a Harley/Joker film isn’t too far out of consideration.
What’s also being reported is that the Gotham City Sirens film has been pushed back to let this movie happen first. Given the ending of Suicide Squad (where Joker broke Harley out of Belle Reve to “be together”) that actually makes sense. It’s likely that this film will push the two apart, which could lead to Harley calling on Selina Kyle (Catwoman) and Pamela Isley (Poison Ivy) to help fill a void in her life.
Suicide Squad 2 is apparently still in the works, but is still having problems with landing a director. There’s no release date planned for Joker And Harley Quinn, but some rumors state it could happen in 2018.
