Yellow Ranger was a Boy... WTF?!?

Growing up while watching Power Rangers, the role of Yellow Ranger was always given to a girl. From Mighty Morphing to Lost Galaxy, the sex of the Yellow Ranger was always a girl.

When I did a little research on Zyuranger, the original program that Saban took the fight scenes from, I found out that Yellow Ranger was originally done by a boy.

This surprised me. Yellow Ranger, a boy?! I had to see it in order to believe it.
Sure enough, it was true. Saban had given Trini, the Yellow Ranger in MMPR a role in which was originally was done by a boy. No wonder why Yellow Ranger's costume looked different from Pink Ranger's!

Watching the male Yellow Ranger take action in Zyuranger, it felt weird. I had always known Yellow to be female. Hell, I remember at least one time where I saw a commercial advertising Pink AND Yellow Ranger dolls for the girls to play with.

Know what I mean?

Anybody get what I'm saying?

i hear ya, i was the same when i first found out about Zyuranger.

I always had my doubts about the show before I even knew about Sentai. Anyone recall the Episode when Tommy and Jason were sent on a Special quest to find new blasters to help defeat the super puddies? When they opened the box with the blasters they all were labeled "Zyuranger". For some reason I never forgot that as a kid.

And get this. Until recently it was standard for Yellow to be male. There usually was only Pink as the only girl. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:buttrock:

Welcome brother. We've been expecting you in the toku world.

Finding out that Tiger Ranger was a boy is only the beginning

For your info, GingaYellow (Lost Galaxy), GoYellow (Lightspeed Rescue), TimeYellow (Time Force) and GaoYellow (Wild Force) were also all men turned into girls in their PR series.

Saban didn't like Yellow apparently. :P

Unless you haven't been watching/researching much Sentai, where have you been? =P

But yeah, it was kind of weird. I know I bought these Gaoranger toys at an Asian mall once and was weirded out cause the Yellow was really muscular. Okay, so all of them were, but he didn't have boobs like I was used to.

Yes, I know what you mean. Welcome to Tokusatsu world.

Well, I'm glad you know now. Do you watch Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue? They made the yellow ranger a girl too. But in the original Japanese show, the yellow ranger was a guy.

Finding this out wasn't much of a shock to me. WHen watching the show as a child I always wondered why Trini didn't had a skirt to her costume like Kimberly's. What's suprising is how many tiems they've done it since then, stopping at WF.
