What exactly is wrong with TV-Nihon subs?

He was being sarcastic.:redface2:

Also maybe the flashy text is more a signifier of TV-N wanting toku to just be fun. Which I'm okay with. Because for me Toku isn't about being serious even in the darker series for me its about having fun, being entertained and seeing some great design work. And its definitely not about bitching about fonts and subtitles, ive got better things to worry about and I honestly feel that its exceptionally petty to spend as much time as we have complaining when we could just watch the group we wanna watch and let that be okay.

instead we've had both sides trying to force their priorities and preferences onto the other and i dunno about you guys but as far as subs are concerned im over talking about it and i think it would be best if we just all agree to disagree because no one is ever gonna "win" this argument.

Then don't take part in said discussions. No one tries to force anything. People just give their opinions on the issue.

Doesn't this apply to like, every argument ever? Not just about subs, but pretty much everything where preference is a factor in any way.

First: How??
Second: This fandom is not getting any more or less flak than other non-mainstream-fandoms of this day and age, really. :V

Not in my personal experience. In my experience the more vocal part of the PR/Toku fandom are seen as a bunch of entitled, elitist and immature man-children. People like Keith and ZeronXepher seem to have a much better reputation, but that doesn't seem to apply to the fandom at large.

I genuinely believe that we're better than that. Just look at how much this fandom has grown in the last 3-4 years. But I also believe that we as a fandom need to make a change in how we present ourselves and in our general attitude in order to continue our growth.

Well, outside this forum, I only have like 3 or 4 people I can genuinely talk about Toku stuff at all, so, I'unno, it always strikes me as weird when someone says "we as a fandom" as if we were like, this organization. :B Everyone has their own approach to things, no matter the field of interest in question. Can't really force a civil approach on things when people don't wanna be civil to begin with.

It's my experience that that kinda behavior really does happen in just about any fandom -- some more than others, mayhaps, but then, I haven't experienced any fandom ever. :V I'm not huge on interacting with people I share interests with, anyway since even then, I usually have rather controversial opinions.

… I think we're kinda veering off-topic. :V

Agreed. Just take a look at all the Megaforce-related news with the returning actor stuff. PR fans.. I swear some of them would prolly commit suicide if Saban doesn't "desecrate their fanbase".

LaZerwolfX wasn't specifically saying "everyone"; I mean heck, to quote himself,

so calm yourself dude.

Maybe but, fansub arguments ('specially in the toku fandom) can be a whole another crowd of ridiculous. :nono:

These are perfect examples as to why our fandom takes so much flak from others.

You really have no business throwing stones. Please don't think you have any room in that. I don't myself, but you are trying to put yourself on some high horse that you have no business on top of.

On Topic: What other fandoms give this one flak? The anime fandom? The transformers fandom? Which fandoms give the toku fandom flak? I am really interested so see the sources for which this claim was made? The only time I have seen this fandom get flak is from long time anime fansubbers who take issues with the way certain toku subbers go about doing things.

This is one reason many toku fans have taken themselves out of this fandom all together. They still watch the shows, but they don't take part in any kind of discussions or events of any kind. I know a few toku fans that were big into the fandom in the early years. Now a days they just watch the shows and say to hell with the rest of it. They see bickering, pointless infighting, blatant hypocrisy from those that are supposed to be "leaders" of the fandom, and just general bullshittyness.
