Both shows to premiere on Toonami on May 27

Adult Swim, the cable and satellite network that is paired with Cartoon Network, is listing on its schedule that it will air the Deadman Wonderland and Casshern Sins television anime series on Sunday, May 27 at 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m., respectively. The schedule lists that both series will then air again at 3:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.

Jason DeMarco, former Toonami producer and recently promoted vice president of strategic marketing and promotions for Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, confirmed this schedule on Monday via his Twitter account.

Adult Swim had announced last Wednesday that it would bring back its Toonami programming block starting on Saturday, May 26.

Update: Adult Swim's entire anime schedule for early morning May 27 is as follows:

12:00 a.m. - Bleach
12:30 a.m. - Deadman Wonderland
1:00 a.m. - Casshern Sins
1:30 a.m. - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
2:00 a.m. - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG
2:30 a.m. - Cowboy Bebop

The schedule then repeats between 3:00 a.m. - 6:00 a.m.

DeMarco added that Toonami will not be showing Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, and similar titles since "the rights to those shows are owned by our competition or are out of our price range." He continued, "Something you should know about THIS Toonami: We have very, very little $$. This experiment will need ratings success to receive more funding for new shows, more [mascot character] Tom animation, etc. I'm thankful for the $$ we've gotten, but it isn't a lot."

DeMarco also clarified Adult Swim's May 16 press release, which said that the network is developing "new original anime programming" for Toonami's return. Toonami will not have original titles created specifically for the programming block, "just new acquisitions." DeMarco said that he personally "love One Piece and would love to see it on CN again" along with Gundam Wing. Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Fairy Tail, and Inuyasha: The Final Act are some of the "many shows we've been looking at" or discussed.

DeMarco confirmed that Steven Blum will reprise his role of Tom, which "will be an updated hi-res version of Tom 3.0" aboard a slightly different but almost identical version of the spaceship Absolution. However, the character Sara will not appear for now ("costs too much to make"), and Peter Cullen will not be the voice of the block's promos due to his busy work schedule. The anime titles will keep their theme songs, and Toonami "will make our own 'pre' intros."

Basically what I put in bold and increased the font size upon to emphasize will be the "key point" in this whole Toonami comeback..........it needs good ratings in order for Cartoon Network/Adult Swim to EVEN CONSIDER bringing in new/better anime titles to the Toonami block.

In other words, hype up the piss-poor, mediocre Toonami programing block or consider this Toonami comeback to only last for about 4 months at the most.

I don't think Casshern Sins, Deadman Wonderland and the continued spamming of Bleach will resurrect Toonami for the future days to come. No offense, **** doesn't look optimistic right now

Either watch it or stop complaining. I will and I am getting as many people as I know to see it or at least turn the TVs to that network.

Might not look good but, hey, I've been dying to see Casshern.

I prefer the Toonami custom openings by far... when the ended that, that brought about the end of Toonami for me.

I don't mind them keeping the original openings while having the custom "pre-intros." They've been executed pretty damn well for me when they did it last time.

That's what Toonami use to do during their final 3 years on the air......sadly, I think the Naruto dubs on Toonami should've had custom openings replace the original openings instead

They didn't use the original openings until #4, though (I don't think they used Op 8 or 9, either since they took it off and such).
