Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, Ep 29 - "Breaking into Hyperspace"

I hear Goseiger actually went through several bad guys. Is Gobusters going to do the same? Clean up Messaiah and his crew then have to fight something else? :sly:
Goseiger wasn't exactly the same. It changed villains roughly every 15 episodes, and one of the underlings from the original group hopped from team to team to be the last one standing. The Chinese show Armor Hero had already done the same thing a few years before (so not exactly a concept with much pedigree ). With Go-Busters they'd only have time to have two groups. They could have a new baddie appear after the Gavan teamp-up and install himself above Enter and Escape as the new top dog, but if they did I'd predict that he gets killed off before Enter and Escape. That's assuming they do die; You never know they could survive the finale. They are 'face' actors rather than totally covered in monster suits.

Wasn't there already a different explanation for that scene though? He was supposedly verifying disturbances in hyperspace.

If memory serves, I believe Kuroki says that's what he's doing, so it's entirely possible he was just lying. If the show was meant to have a "Kuroki knew what was going on all along and wasn't telling the Busters" runner, then Kuroki telling some lies would have to be part of it.

There's also an early episode where the conflict is entirely provoked by the commander denying the possibility of survivors, IIRC, without the series giving any hint that he was lying.

Not exactly. There's a scene in one of the early episodes where Hiromu is all yelling, "I WILL SAVE EVERYONE IN HYPERSPACE" and Kuroki is all "NO YOU WILL DO WHAT I SAY." Nothing about it is inconsistent with the theory that Kuroki knew what was happening all along. In fact, unless there's some sort of runner about Kuroki knowing the truth, the scene is fairly inexplicable. Nothing directly comes of it and it doesn't really drive the episode's plot, as I recall.

If this was something intended since the beginning, the foreshadowing seems uncharacteristically weak compared to what Kobayashi did in other series, especially regarding the commander's knowledge.

I dunno. I find it very reminiscent of how she handled Gien in Timeranger. The character's early appearances absolutely do not suggest or foreshadow what he's going to end up doing later on. It makes sense when it happens, you just wouldn't automatically assume that's where the story is going.

I believe Timeranger also has a lot of characters who just lie about things, and there's no immediate hint that the statement was a lie. Instead, it's revealed to be incorrect later on. Characters always being very obvious when they lie is something that Kobayashi's never done (that I recall right now).

It's not impossible, though I imagine it would be more like the old Showa series where they'd introduce new villains to shake up a show's status quo. With Goseiger, the villain faction changeovers were pre-planned. The producers, iirc, wanted to establish that Goseiger had to defend Earth from many different kinds of threats.

If they give Go-busters a new villain faction after episode 30, I wonder if they will change OP to reflect this change.

I doubt we get another song, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the current video re-edited to include more villain footage.

I think if Go-Busters was always intended to have multiple villain groups, then Messiah wouldn't have made it to episode 20. My current theory is that Enter will now be the big bad, with Escape as his right-hand (wo)man, and one of their primary motivations will be how the Busters killed their master.

Regardless of whether it's purely down to the retool, it's good to have a 'big' episode at this point. So often at this point I'm basically just waiting for the last ten episodes so the plot restarts again. But no, cool fight action from Enter, the first time in forever we've seen the 'basic form' Megazords, and a real sense of anticipation. I would have liked a bit more from Jin on what was going on, as his "I know something you don't know" part at the beginning was basically all he got to do the entire episode, but that's just nitpicking.

Zut! Zut! Zut alors!

I've always thought they'd keep Enter around as the big bad after Messiah is defeated. I'm not sure how the Japanese have reacted to him, but he seems to be one of the more popular aspects of the show. I'm not so sure about Escape though. She's had little airtime; acting as little more than a guest star and she doesn't even appear in the new intro. I'm fairly sure she'll be gone within the next few episodes.

The show has definitely improved dramatically now that something is actually happening, but I wonder if they can keep this going now that they've rushed ahead to what was clearly supposed to be the finale.

I noticed some people on Tumblr speculating that Enter will be killed off in this episode because the actor has cut his hair and got rid of his long black "Enter nails." It could just mean the character will disappear and resurface at the end (like Mezul & Gamel, Juuzou, etc.) or that the guy is doing something with his idol group though

So....what's with Jin's body in a chrono chamber? I thought he uses the avatar to be in the real world and his real body is just living in hyperspace. But now he uses his avatar for both purposes? I hope to god there's going to be an explanation for this.

Anyway blah blah this is like the series finale blah blah blah this is the end of Sentai blah. Seriosuly, is this all you guys are talking about here? So what if Go-Busters right now is acting like it's the end, I'm pretty sure whatever retooling they are doing will give a stratifying follow through...I hope.

I think you're looking for the episode 30 thread, not this one.
