They already go after Bit Torrents...........but on an individual-basis, how do you think people get caught on some of the downloads of Shinkenger and other toku in years past? Torrents......only difference is, the ISPs are the one that informed the people that got caught.

DLs happen to be next on the list, and it just seems the government wants to personally handle it themselves since informing ISPs about illegal torrent isn't enough

So which one will be safer in the future, torrents or DL? It seems like more and more of these things are under seige, and if SOPA passes, it would only get worse.

So yeah. There is obviously more than just piracy that caused Megaupload to be shut down.

The biggest thing I've heard from people not assuming some "SOPA failed" fueled revenge is that what got MegaUpload in trouble was their video streaming service and the fact they were showing content from paid porn sites.

And forgive the pun but you do not **** with the porn industry.

Well, sort of, they have disabled all their own Sharing functions permanently, likely to avoid what happened to Megaupload happening to them.

EDIT: oh, and Upload.to is now blocking US IP addresses for the same reason.
