THE OVERRATED MOVIE THREAD

Tim Burton Batman films.

I've seen his, the Schumaker & the Nolan ones, but the only ones that have really impressed me were The Dark Knight & Rises. Burton's were the last I saw out of the bunch & I have to say, while it definately has that Burton style & some great, wacky characters, it's not really the best story ever. Not to mention (and I may give it a try again sometime) I couldn't even watch Batman Returns. I just found it incredibly monotonous & boring.

Then again, I remember liking Batman & Robin when I was a kid... and after seeing it again as a teenager, I decided to disown that part of my memory...

Personally I feel, and I know I will be attacked, that E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial is a way overrated movie. I just never got what was so great about it.

An alien is in it. :shakefist

I also don't understand. I was beginning to watch it again just a few weeks ago, but I thought "Nah, channel surf" and I saw the Happy Together show.

Tim Burton Batman films.

Tim Burton movies are the ones that I want to put at the top of my overrated movies list. They are just bad in general. The one that I thought was passable as a child was The Nightmare Before Christmas, but I should watch that one again.

Haven't seen Rises, don't really plan to.

You're not really missing anything. The Dark Knight Rises is just more of the same as what we got in Dark Knight. I'd go as far to say that it's just a copy and paste job in a lot of ways. Guy causing chaos, taking over and terrorizing Gotham ... good guys fail repeatedly, over and over, in a half baked attempt to make things seem hopeless. Add in a ridiculous "gonna blow up/gas the city" device. Yawn.

Rises is the same as others in that it just feels like it's missing something. Like ... it's Batman, I guess, but something feels off about the whole experience.

I've got a bone to pick with this movie, especially with everyone and their mother calling it "the greatest movie of all-time".

Off the top of my head, I'd say Drive was pretty overrated. I saw it last year and the way that people talked about it, I thought it would be a kickass movie. It was alright, but I actually got kind of bored at spots. Gosling was good in it, just that it wasn't as mind blowing as everyone made it out to be.

I won't attack you about it. Big family movies may not be your thing which is fine. But I think E.T. was a family movie in the best ways. An example that a family movie doesn't have to be something bland or dumb.

The idea of a boy meets and befriends an alien was not something that had been done a million times when E.T. came out. I think most movies that had aliens coming to Earth had them as bad guys invading the planet. With some notable exceptions of course.

I also don't think any movie has done the idea with as much sincerity as E.T. did. Plus there's the score by John Williams which really helps bring the whole thing to life as much as the actors and the effects do.

Gone With The Wind...this movie is so racist and it has the most annoying lead actress who kept whining...

Wizard of Oz...one of the most pointless flicks in Cinema History. The only thing American Cinema got out of it was flying monkeys....:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

The Sound of Music... should've been the sound of silence since the movie was even worst than boredom...:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
