-We didn't find out what happened to Peter's parents. They built it up to be something big but I guess we won't find out until sequels later.

-Didn't see much of Peter's desire to be a photographer either. It felt more like a prop for him in this film.

1. Yeah depending on what they use, his parents could be A. Spys for S.H.E.I.L.D or B. Scientist who develop the Venom Symbiote as a cure for cancer

2. Pete's photography was more just to make money off the Spiderman pictures, Comic Peter became a scientist as being freelance wasn't longterm.

Seems like people feel marketing has been showcasing a whole different movie; an article from badassdigest speculating how much the original movie was possibly cut

I don't think a director's cut would be vastly different in terms of new footage, but I'd be down to see one for sure.

I must be the only one who wasn't presumptuous enough to assume that they would reveal the secret of Peter's parents' fate in the first film of a new series, especially while also making room for their reworked details of Spider-Man's origin...

I'm also surprised that so many people here seemed to dislike the crane scene. For a community so based on inspirational deeds of justice and heroism, it seems like it would have held more appeal. Also, some of you cry while watching Power Rangers. That just isn't right.

Seriously though, yeah, I expected the whole parents issue to go deeper into the story and not end in the first movie... I mean c'mon, did you guys seriously expect them to reveal them to you in the first movie? The way it was setup, it was obvious it would be on the 2nd or 3rd movie right in the very beginning. How the hell can you fit that into the 2hour format with Peter's history being slightly revealed and him learning the ropes?

I don't think they will be revealed to be spys for SHIELD. No way in hell that Disney and Marvel Studios will allow that. Lol...It does seem like they will be the creators of a something extraordinary which was why they had to go in hiding.

I guess Sony is adapting the Ultimate Spider-Man route if they are not making him a photographer. Nothing wrong with that as it does reflect more of the modern times and he did mostly took pictures of Spider-Man to get extra cash. Sucks to see Lizard destroy his camera in the sewers though.

They'll go into hiding and Spiderman will join up with the Avengers somehow.

Also, couldn't Disney just BUY the film rights and do the rest of the "trilogy" or work it out so they could have Spiderman with the Avengers? They did it with the Hulk so why not Spidey?

I loved the Disney XD series for that reason. Him working for a TV station or an internet blog/social media makes far more sense than being a photographer.

If Norman Osborn still has Harry in this version, he's gonna become the Green Goblin and be the catalyst for Gwen Stacy's death. MJ enters the scene and an XD like story is set up. SHIELD Agent Coulson becomes the principal , set before the Avengers obviously and we get not only action of Spiderman, but from Iron Fist and other B-List heroes. I mean there is a huge continuity difference between the show and films but it would work out and connect them, drawing in more revenue.



Will Rosie Huntley be MJ? I could see it working.
