Super Sentai should have a alternate universe theme season

It would be tougher with Sentai. Kamen Rider had one main character (I know about the additional Riders, just roll with it ). Sentai has 5-7 main characters to bring back if they want to do it right. They would probably have to recast, like Decade. And like Decade, it would still be pretty awesome.

But even if they recast all the roles it would still be incredibly expensive. If you assume that we did the last 10 sentai that would be at least 60 actors you need to hire.

Every actor isn't necessary for a Sentai take on the idea, IMO. Sentai usually uses 1 episode stories, not 2 episode ones. They'd, more often than not, only have enough time to focus on one member of the returning team anyway, so they might as well only show that one returning member out of suit, keeping the other ones suit only for the battles.

This way, it'd be actually easier to make a Sentai reunion show than a Rider reunion one. They only need one out of five/six/seven representatives for each year, not specifically the main (red) one. Now, some teams probably could afford to have multiple members actually present, especially if it's a multi episode story, but, for one shots, I think one returning member + the suits of the full team would be enough.

Ages and ages ago I remember reading a rumor somewhere that in the earliest stages of creating TimeRanger, the initial concept was to have the characters actually travel in time. The idea for what became a special where they visit various Sentai teams would have actually been their movie. Basically for the movie, TimeRanger would have to save the fate of Super Sentai itself.

Rumor or just total fan-fantasy I don't actually know for sure. But based on that I started thinking about what if basically the cosmic balance of an entire universe depends on the continuing succession of Super Sentai heroes and that theres a villain and his crew of monsters trying to screw up the timeline in evil's favor.

So the Sentai team of this series has to protect the timeline to insure that the legend of Super Sentai plays out like it's supposed to and for each mission they enlist the help of or maybe just encounter a member of that episodes featured old team before going back in time.

The returning member or members would be the only one of a past team we see out of suit while the Sentai Team of the year the heroes have gone to are always in-suit. Basically a lot of the action for this series plays around or away from the action of a previous series because they're trying to preserve events. Sort of like Marty McFly in BTTF II trying to preserve the events of BTTF I.

So then when a team from a previous series needs to be part of a scene, they can do it because everyone but the veteran character who is traveling with the team from modern times will always be in-suit. Therefore no need to do wacky alts. or have a guy from a previous series trying to pass for still being in his 20's.

There are debates about this, but I always liked to think all Sentai were in the same universe. Granted, some Vs. movies screwed up (hi Ohranger vs. Kakuranger), but I like to go with an all encompassing canon.
When Decade met the Shinkengers the world was referred to as the World of Shinkenger, not the world of Super Sentai. Zyuranger, Abaranger, and Boukenger have contradictions about how the dinosaurs died out. (Boukenger was in their movie, the other two are central to those series' premises) Since AbareBlack met the Boukengers in Bouken vs SS, it's obvious that the vs movies are in fact set in an AU. So there's a world of Boukenger, a world of Gekiranger, a world of Abaranger, a world of VS Sentai, etc.

Hmm......Interesting.

All in all, I think it'd make a great idea if it was done right. I think everyone needs to not take it so SUPER SRSLY and just look at the fun and potential of it all :)

Alternate Universe, yes- Decade, no.

If they do a "All Sentai Assemble" thing next year, I consider that cheating. Decade already did this & couldn't pull it off. It would be easier if they narrowed it down to, maybe, the last ten like Decade did- but I'd still ike to see them be more creative- this is lazy writing when you're so bored, you're copying off your rival.

I actually tried to do an Alternate Universe theme for my Goseiger adaptation- but, for some reason, couldn't think of any good plotlines to go with it.

Somehow, it's like there's so many possibilities, I couldn't think in a wide enough scope for it...:hmm:

With Sentai ... i feel the current formula (VS movie with the current and previous sentai teams and the anniversary movie) is more than enough (can't imagine Shiba Takeru being played by someone else *shudders at that tought*)... but i am hoping for a concept similar to Super Sentai World in the next anniversary series

I have watched SSW so many times and i feel that is how an annivesary movie should be like ... rather than plucking a member from the previous series to form a team, why not gather all their team members as well to kick butt

i hope that for next year's VS series, they would go {team} vs goseiger vs super sentai instead of only vs super sentai like gaoranger and boukenger.

Techinically, Ohranger was one. The setting was in 1999. Since we didn't see any sign of the Ohrangers when GoGo-V aired in 1999, it's safe to assume that it could be considered an alternate timeline Sentai.
